Spongy Brakes

Postby D.J on Tue Oct 31, 2006 10:05 am

Hi There

I changed my front pads at the weekend, and now they don't feel as good as they did before i changed them. They seem to be ok when braking from speed, it's only when i'm traveling at around town speeds that they don't feel right.

I know they will take a bit of time to bed in properly, they just don't feel right.

Any suggestions? I didn't bleed them, which was going to be my next port of call....

BTW, its on a Puma, not that it should really make much difference, and Genuine Ford items used...

Thanks
DJ

Probably just bedding in. I did mine a while back, felt awful when I first drove them. Bleeding will do no them no harm though.
1.8 diesel - too primitive to break!

gental breaking for a good 200 mile to be safe and to bed the brakes in properly as well as not screw them up straight away :)

Thanks for all the replies.

I had thought it was just a case of bedding them in.

Calipers were all nice and clean when the new pads were put in.

Thinking about bleeding them over the weekend, does ABS make any difference when it comes to bleeding them?
