Spraying handles
19 posts • Page 1 of 1
Ok... for this, I'm guessing I got to sand it down, layer on some white plastic primer (C/O halfords), then spray on some wedgewood blue (C/O halfords) Dont want it to flake off or anything. Do i need laquer, cos its says laquer for metalic/pearlesant finishes.
So can some1 give me indepth what to do - do i need more than just the primer and paint?

Hey fiesta steve, how much could u do 4 handles for in Polaris grey? it's metalic and just wondered if it would be worth getting someone to do it as after u've bought the primer and paint and lacquer that's 15 quid already!

Send 1 handle at a time then
I can supply you with some handles to use while I spray yours, even if you do them yourself its going to be out of action while you wait for the paint to dry anyway
BTW: I am not a fool

starting to lose faith in this site now...
half the fun is turning around and saying "I did that" not "I forked out and got someone else to do that"

Right right right,
taker de handle off
sand de handle down with some fine grade paper to a smooth finish
wash them to get all the dust off
dry them off and leave to dry completely
spray with primer
have a can of beer
spray with primer again
go to sleep for 24hrs
sand with fine grade paper again
wash & dry again
spray with paint
have a beer (or for perfect finish wait 24hrs and sand between coats)
spray with paint
have another beer
spray with paint again (if nessesary/u want to)
go to sleep for 24hrs
refit to car and polish up with some rubbing compound after a week or so
no need for laquer as its not metallic or pearl, though they will be nice and shiny if u do

Leave them in the bedroom 2 days if you can mate - the paint will pit as it settles and dries fully.
Then 1500 grit and T-cut again Al
