ST170 Head On Zetec E Block?

Postby James-UK on Sat Mar 05, 2005 12:09 am

Hmm

The ST170 head as standard is supposed to have been worked in someway for the ST, anyways would this fit the Zetec E/R/Series 3/Black top - 1.8 and/or 2.0 98- engines - block? If so could i still use the original Zetec 3 manifolds on the ST head?

Anyone know anything about the ST engine? I have heard it's a duratec and runs a chain but i'm pretty sure thats just BS?

Has anyone fitted the type 3 zetec into a fiesta?

What happens with the starter? Will a standard BC five speed box bolt upto the engine placing the starter on the front of the engine?

Any advice?!

Zetec E (S2) no. Zetec R (S3) yep. Although the chances of finding the head without the block are next to none. Manifolds will fit yes.

No, it's a Zetec with a belt. Some Zetecs are branded "Duratec" by Ford but aren't, Focus RS for example.

Yes, you need to fabricate the offside mount as the normal Fiesta Zetec ones don't fit.

Yes.

Ok, thanks for that..

Do you have any pictures of the work needed to fabricate the top mount?

Any websites that have done this conversion? - S3>Fiesta??

ST170 has VVT so you'll need some way of controlling this.

lol, i know just thought i'd see if anyone could confrim it!

On another kinda-of related area.. Can i fit black top 2.0 cams & solid lifters into a older type phase1 zetec?

Also are 105, 115 & 130 1.8's all the same just different throttle body/cams/maf/ecu?
