ST170 lump performace in fez
does anyone know [ERRR] kinda performace i would be lookin at if i stuck an ST170 lump in me fez? [ERRR] sort 0-60 and 1/4 mile should i expect?? also has anyone else tried puttin an ST lump in a fez yet?
i ask cause ive been thinkin of buyin a new car lately but id hate to see the fez go ,so i might just spend some money on the fez to improve its performace instead of gettin another car. i was thinking a ZS rear beam , rear discs, cossie brakes up front, roll cage and the st170 lump . should make a rather rapid fez.

Well it's a lighter car so it can only be faster than the ST170 Focus. But I have not read about anyone who has done it yet so maybe you would be the first
Wouldnt it be better just to have an ST170 Focus though...?
If I had the choice of MK3 Fez with ST170 engine or Focus ST170 I know which I would go for (traitor I know )

How boring is the ST170 though?
The only good parts are the engine and box, put those in a smaller car with more character / potential and you've got a cracker.
Plus that defeats the whole concept of modifying!
Should do the qtr in under 15 seconds if you get the technique down, 0-60 in the sixes I reckon.

There is talk by quite a few people about putting an ST170 lump into a Mk3/4 and 5 Fiesta. Will be interesting to see who actually goes for this and what the outcome is.

Im well up for it sounds like it would make a well rapid na fez. how hard is the st170 to fit though will it go straight in or will mounts need to fabricated or parts changed. if its pretty stright forward ill phone my insurance company today and then ill sort a loan to get it all done.

Same as a Series 3 Zetec, so fabrication of new mounts etc.
Fitting is relatively simple, the hard part is gonna be sourcing the engine.
GTechR had one for sale a while back, complete with box (6 speed ), ECU etc. £1300 odd he wanted for the lot.
I'd imagine the first person to get it done will be the first to find the bits.

Id go for a Mk3 with a turbo engine!
There are many faults with the ST170...although mainly with the build quality of the car and not the engine
