i have fitted K&N filter, its annoying that my old 1989 1.1 had 55hp where this 1994 has 50, why is that?

Its crap about back pressure, as a cat causes plenty of it :bonkers: You want as free flowing as possible. its when people use a bore size not suited to the amount of gasses that will be pumping out of the engine. Exhausts work the best on the principle of the hotter the gasses the less dense they are which means they can exit the exhaust quicker but when people use a too big of a bore the gasses can be slowed down and become more dense meaning there is more to push against to get rid of the gasses, thats why some people use exhaust wrap and ceramic coatings. I'm pretty sure the that the standard bore is 1.75" on the 1.1 whereas it would be 2" on the Si/XR2i/RS1800.

The 1994 Fiesta would be CFi not a carb (still looks like a carb though). Also the 1994 would probably have the air pulse system which causes a restriction in the manifold but the main cause of restriction is the cat.

Stainless steel can take the appearence of rust but its mainly stuff like road salt and dirt etc baking on to it to give the look of rust. Also lower grades of stainless steel, like T409 still rusts.

HTH :)
