standard air box

is it just my car which has a wire coming out of the standard air box,i do not know what it does and what do i do with it when i want to fit my green air fillter ?????????

It's the airflow meter, use the orginal inlet pipe (black tube that comes off the throttle body housing) and just attach the new filter to the end.
