standard pistons and block....
how good are the standard pistons? just i had a 1640 block with mahle pistons, and they are becoming stupid to get hold of, and i would like to run about 14psi of boost, with all the mods done to my car... will the standard pistons hold up for a while?

hard to get hold of? are you joking?
and how can people think of using non-forged pistons for a turbo charged motor running 14psi

If you're carefull the stock pistons and compression will run 18psi or so. The setup needs to be done very carefully though by somebody experienced. Skimming the standard pistons is an acceptable method of dropping the compression but again this needs to be done by competent and experienced hands
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

I've seen std pistons handling 1.2bar and std pistons skimmed 60thou and running 1.1bar... I just don't know how long they will keep on handling that.
I belive that proper mapping with a proper management things go fine.
One thing is for sure: std pistons and std rods don't like been reved up 7000rpm.
