Postby an0key on Mon May 29, 2006 11:54 pm

Hi,

Apologies if this has been posted before...

I've got a M reg 1.6 si. It's currently got the standard speakers in it... however does anyone know the sizes of them (front and rear).

I'm concidering gettin a new head unit, all speakers and sub (inc amp) however need to know sizes and difficulty in changing the speakers / sizes.

Cheers everyone.

The standard speakers are not "round" lol, well the speaker is but the frame/body is a silly shape.

You can get 13cm (5.25") speakers that will fit straight in if you get the mounting adapters. Can get these pretty much anywhere.

Alternatively you can get custom door pods that can hold 17cm (6") speakers.

Rear speakers simply unclip and unscrew from the parcel shelf supports and the fronts you just take the doorcard off and swap them over :)

i got 5" speakers in the front door panels, done fit perfectly, but they do it ( only with one screw in though), done that up really tight, i think the front os 4", and i also think the back two are 4" aswell, done get that site, get bigger in the back shelf, get 6x9's, maplin do some for £20 i think, i got my ones from there when they had half price. not the best, but ya can really tell the difference.

I've got Kenwood 5.25" mids in the front doors and a set of Kicker tweeters flush mounted into the dash.

No pics of the mids but the tweeters look rather nice :)

That they do mate! Shame you've lost your instrument cluster and air vent! :bonkers:

What's the three prong thingy, underneath the instrument cluster that's held in by a a phillips? Just a little intriguing.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

It's for The Immobiliser which were fitted to some Fords when new. They are crap and no good but it was in the dash when I brought it so I left it there as you don't notice it.

Think the dash looks bad there, look at it here.
