Standard Tunning
Ive just brought a FRST, its got a K&N filter and a stainless steel exhaust system, can i do anything to it to make it faster?
What im getting at is can i play with the turbo as it is? ive heard something about a screw on the turbo i can screw in more to generate more boost?

its a chv rs turbo!!! its a very tune-able engine!!
why not try
ECU chip or remap
uprated injectors (701)
uprated fuel pump
upgraded to T3 turbo
escort turbo and manifold
-31 actuator
dump valve
uprated intercooler
new clutch
kent cam kit
the list goes on... you will het quite a few horses from the above ( ireccomend the dump valve n clutch if you choose to upgrade things also the brakes)

r0ss_smith whats your current spec????
Give us an idea and maybe we can advise you from there, but whatever you do and i mean no matter what dont mess around with the turbo or that scew thing your talking about yet.
It most likely a bleed valve and most ppl tend to whack it up, car flies for a bit and bang you blown a piston or even worse in same cases!!!!!!
Unless you know what your doing dont mess around with it yet untill you familirize yourself with the car and how it should run and work.
Like i said provide us with your spec and if possible the boost your running (if you've got a boost gauge installed) and am sure many of the friendly users will able to guide you.
Welcome and enjoy ur stay

its totally standard apart from a K&N filter, Stainless steel exhaust, dump valve, and lowerd 60mm. I dont have a boost gauge.
i just wanted to know if there was anything i could do to it now without spending money on it, like buying intercoolers etc, new turbo's etc....
If i took it to a tunning centre would they be able to re-map it (without putting in a superchip) and get more performance?

Okay erm am not too good with this part but i take it you've got a standard t2 turbo yeh????
first of all i recommend reading the following article, it will give you a much better idea on the options and possibilities of tuning your engine:
http://www.fiestaturbo.com/articles/rsttuning/
if you dont want to spend much money on it then i recommend geting a stage1 chip or as sometimes known as a 165 chip and then turing up boost and hopefully you get a decent power increase.
How much to turn the boost up or how much power you'll gain with a chip etc we will never really never know untill you got it tuned or setup by a proper tuner and it also depends on how old/condition is the engine and turbo in. So theres quite a few factors to consider there before you really decide to do anything
Whereabouts you from and how long you planning to keep the car???
How fast do you want it to be in the long run because theres no point spending money on it now to get it running faster and setup etc only to decide later on you want it even more faster.
Theres a lot of options out there really just depends on how fast and how much you wanna spend on it
I recommend calling and discussing with a decent tuning company and see what they can offer you

Well ive completly fallen in love with the car, so theres no way im getting rid of it any time soon, i reckon 160-170 would be as far as il go for a while. I have been talking to Oranoco and he has given me some good ideas, im going to take it to Jam Sport as i live kinda near it and get it all checked over, then get it chiped and set up properly! and then a nice BIG intercooler will be installed too!
anything else you guys think i should do would be greatfully considered!
im a big rookie with the FRST's!

I would start with a boost gauge you will need a good one as when running 7-15psi a cheap one could be 5 psi out autometer is good and so is nomad then a satge 1 chip your car will be ofac or ofab which you will need to find out before buying the chip and easy to tell. If it's still got the old actuator on then a new one would be a good idea as the spring's start to get week and then i would up the boost as long as the turbo was ok and not smoking and has no play in it as this would finsh off a sick turbo. All of the above thing's can be done by a novice and would be a waste of money gettting a turner to do as you could have it rolling roaded after all your handy work

True but a tuner is in the best position to make sure things are in good nick to start with. No point spending cash out on go faster bits if the basics aren't doing what they should.
JamSport are straight up guys and will look after the man. Just watch you don't get addicted and start chasing figures. I got my S2 and was happy. Then I wanted 150bhp, when I got 150 I wanted 200, When I got 200 I wanted 250. Guess what, I now have 250 and fancy a bit more

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

ok, so how do you go about getting 300bhp?
Ok so, im going to give the guys at Jam Sport a bell 2moro morning and see what they say.
Ive been fixing the rear brakes 2day, and ive got to replace both cylinders on the drums, and ive decided to replace the brake shoes too. I have discovered to my horror that the exhaust has been bodged together with a Foookin Fosters beer can!!!!! , what do you think the guys at Jam Sport are going to say about that?
Will they keep it? get rid of it and replace it with a Tennents super can for extra horses????
Answers any body?
