Stopping power

Postby JamieFRST on Fri Jun 03, 2005 12:29 am

As my engine is almost sorted ive decided to install bigger brakes while everthing is in bits. Just not sure which route to take, was planning on fitting Sapphire 4x4 calipers, but the chap who is rebuilding my engine has a set of 2wd Sierra Cosworth's 4 pot calipers....and said I can have them for £125 first of do these fit and if so are they much more hassle than 4x4 calipers? And will I need to get a bigger servo/master cylinder for either conversion :-?

What other options are availble, standard calipers with bigger discs, ST?, RS2000?

Mixon....

us the cossie 4 pots, they will handle anything you chuck at them especially in a Fiesta. They were made for a big heavy sierra
A mate of mine had cossie 4 pots, rear disk conversion and a brake bias valve on his S2 and with decent pads that car stopped very very well.

I can't remember what needs doing to make those 2WD callipers fit :-? I think they may need a few millimetres machining off the back of the surface that mates to the mounts on the hub carrier, ie they stick out too far and need bringing in towards the centre of the car a bit.

Will go for the 4 pots if they dont require much work to get them on, I'm fed up with the car being in bits, I just want to drive the thing  and stop occasionally

Check on PassionFord, but I'm sure the calliper bracket needs machining a bit for the 4 pot 2WD callipers to fit onto the ERST/FRST.

Maybe I will just look for some 4x4 ones then, seem's to be the simplest way of doing it
