i own a mk2 1.1 fiesta and was given a cherry bomb, with the same diameter bore as my standard pipe and not much silencer. so i cut out the standard silencer and welded in this cherry bomb, sounds great but the engine started to run very irregular?? after adjusting the mixture all was ok, but i was told that a straight through exhaust would lose a couple of bhp so why is my 1.1 now going faster than ever before? any ideas, cheers

perhaps there was a small vole stuck up the pipe beofre and chopping the bit out freed him??

do you reckon that there is a possibility that the tuning of the engine may have been out in the first place and me retuning it could have made the difference, (i noticed that the tick over was high before as well).
i reckon though that vole had a little family up there, i always wondered what that squeaking was??

well basically ur prob find it more responsive as it is less restricted by the exhuast! adjusting the miture puts more fuel in so more fuel bigger bangs! i would say get a bolt on filter on it too then be more air getting in cos its easy to make the mixture too rich and cors more probs (cnat [ERRR] symtoms of too rich ahh off hand)
