Streched Tyres + Lowering Question + Track day tyre question
Got 2 questions:
1)
Basicly i have a set of 15's with 195/50/15 tyres on. I lowerd the car 30mm but any minor bump caused the tyres to touch the arch runing the tyres and the arch's.
I dont want to go down the arch rolling route as its too much effort
I want to give my care the "euro" look buy having streched tyres, what tyre size should i go for to get this look when i lower it again??
2)
Also what size wheel and tyres setup should i go for, for track day use?? (will be a spare set of wheels of course)
The car will still be lowerd around 30mm for trackdays depended on what coilovers i get
Thanks Matty

Re: Streched Tyres + Lowering Question + Track day tyre question
I doubt they will look stretched at all mate.
The problem you had was you were using 50 profile. Fine when not lowered
But on a MK3 you need to have 45 profile tyres (most of the time) for them not to scrub. And then it depends on your wheels ofset etc

TRACK USE
The best choice is r888 with a 15" wheel looking at 195 50 15 tyres..
Then sort springs out to suit that spec of wheel tyre combination.
Or go the dunlop route of slicks with a 195 55 15

Re: Streched Tyres + Lowering Question + Track day tyre question
i had 45's on my last fez so i understand that i need a max of 45 again so they dont scrub but im after the streched euro look for my road tyres.
dont want anything more than 45's for track days as i dont want to be fannying about changing shocks whenever i decide to go on the track, i just want to change the wheels to save on tyre bills.

I thought lower profiles were supposed to give you better grip so why would you want higher profiles for track? im not arguing just genuinely curious

The side walls are stonger and designed to be stiffer to keep there shape when put through extremes of grip/direction changes..
A normal fast road tyre will not have these charecteristics and can be rolled of the rim in severe cases.

Re: Streched Tyres + Lowering Question + Track day tyre question
pimsle there is no such thing as euro tyres man..........what drugs you on maaan?
what car do you have?
what size wheel do you have?
- you spec it up with the tyre according to the wheel size...
- toyos have a good strech and some nankangs models and some dunlops
- the lower profile and wider the wheel better the stretch
- example my fronts are 8x16s i have 195/45/16s toyo which has a stretched look would look much better
with 195/40/16 for more slicker and stretchier look lol etc
- also theres a special tool you use also to strech them only certain people and garages do them what im aware of etc
- p.s i never had a problem with them, on circuit or ever touch wood, alot jap cars use this tech for driffting etc etc
m4dyeti - is right with his answer best for track is 195/50s think i will invest in some
when i find my track circuit wheels still cant find a pair that i like

so therefore to acheive this you have to have wide wheels, eg. Xr_dub is using 8x16s
I doubt you could acheive the "euro" look on a small width wheel.

i answered your question im sorry if your taking the wrong way
also having stretched tires doesnt give you a euro look
theres no correct way of doing "euro" but the dna is
- the car has to be superlow on the floor
- slammed on wide wheels with a good streching a finger gap between the arch and finger
- huge ass dished polished black centres
- smoothed body work
- car clean a possible outside
- interior tidy spotless and interior leathered looking out of this world
- engine bay smoothed and again clean, wires hidden
- different paint themes
- black roof
list goes on you have to do you research and vists some shows etc etc
euro is not somthing that anyone can do on any car it has to work you either pull it off or you dont
good luck to you

Re: Streched Tyres + Lowering Question + Track day tyre question
Dont know what size track tyres are best but i can tell you i have tried Toyo R888's,Dunlop DZ's or whatever they are called and Yokohama A048R's and the yoko's are by far the best and i found Toyo's the worst as they went off far too quick.

Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.
