Personal choice at the end of the day

Re: Strut braces
White_Ford_Rich :Are they really needed on a road car??
not really else they'd b fitted as standard.
as tom said, personal preference, and probably depends on where you are driving, i.e. country twisties or big open straights.

ah, its not for me.
couple of mates have said about puttin them on thier cars.
personally i dont see a need for them, unless its on a track car.
one wants both upper and lower struts front and rear + a 40mm drop, it jus seems a little too OTT to me esecially as the car is a daily runner

Same as Max,i have a mk6 fiesta, which i am currently upgrading the suspension, wheels, tyres and brakes, and i will fit a front strut brace while im at it,as i like twisty roads i have also fitted some to my 2i. Im guessing their impact on the overall handling is minimal, but as known, every little helps

My rear strut brace was an impulse purchase from egay, but transformed the handling.

Unfortunately not. It's an alloy one that goes in between the turrets, about 35mm diameter tubing. If I was to buy another one I would definetly get one that bolts onto the top strut mounts, just for the ease of mounting. They are also properly designed for movement in both directions.
I got mine with some shocking self tapping screws and promply sheared two bolt heads off! However after a bit of redesign which involved welding in some strengthening plates inside the turrets and four alloy M12 nuts and bolts each side it looks the business and makes a real difference. Also deals with the movment of the turrets in both directions.
It has really tightened up the rear end, and on the two occasions I have accidentally got the arse end out (in the wet) it feels a lot more progressive rather than "snappy". Whenever I drive a fiesta without one I'm reminded what an absolute bargain it was.

Yeah, that's the sort I would get now if I were to buy another. Just so much easier to put on, other than arsing around drilling holes in the turrets.
On holiday at the moment but I'll get some pictures of mine up next week.
You'll wonder how you ever managed without!

Will be good if it makes a diff.
That's the reason i got it really. I have a habit of changing my mind so holes everywhere wouldn't be great!
