Sounds like your particular head unit only outputs a feed to the auto antenna when the radio is on rather than CD, for the blue remote wire. Put it on a switched feed with the ignition, or if the head unit has one, an amp output. More than likely have to go with the ignition switched feed though...

Ignition switched feed is something that comes on when the ignition is on. I don't know where to find one unfortuneatly but someone on here will.

The blue wire coming from your headunit to the amp/sub controls when the amp should be on (i.e. when the head unit is on). What most people do is connect the blue wire to the "Electric Antenna" feed, which on some cars pushes up the aerial when the head unit is on.

Unfortunatly some sony's switch this feed off when the radio is not on - playing CD's.

Another way to do it is buy yourself a switch, and bring the blue wire from the battery, into the switch, then out to the amp, then you have a switch at the front of the car for the amp...

Hope this helps,
Nick

When the headunit is in the CD setting.. switch 'AF' on

Basically.. someone has connected the amplifier remote turn on lead to the electric antenna turn on wire. The 'AF' function turns the aerial on and off so if you switch it on when in CD mode it should be fine :)

I thought AF was Automatic Frequency - where you move throughout the country, the radio searches for the strongest frequency for that particular PI. I've got mine connected to the Auto Antenna with AF off and mine works a treat...

Nick

Edit: Knew it:

# Alternative Frequency. The AF flag contains information about a station's other FM frequencies, so that the radio can switch to a better signal whilst driving.

Its a part of RDS, nothing to do with turning the aerial on and off...

Hmm, very odd! Maybe when AF is enabled its searching for stations in the background and enabling the output...?
