Suspension advice

Postby Mish on Sat Feb 10, 2007 10:43 pm

With money being a bit low at the moment do spend of the Fez due to mobing out shorty, I'm having to 'make do' with stuff I normally wouldn't buy.

I've set a budget out for 'temporary' suspension, until I can save and get some Gaz coilovers in the summertime.

But as for the moment I have around £300 for a suspension kit (shocks and springs springs)- doesn't need to be adjustable.

I'm after advice on what makes to look at and any links to good products/places to buy from.

Most obvious, well-known makes are out of the question. I no Eibach are brilliant as are Bilstein, but struggling to find anything within budget (anyone know different then let me know)

There's so many 'g-max' kits about but I'm a bit wary of these... anyone shed anymore light on how 'budget' these really are?

Any advice much appreciated

cheers,
Mish

Avoid G-Max like you would dipping your knackers into a pirhana tankat feeding time. The build quality is beyond shocking. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen cracking at the join between the shock body and the spring platform. The failure at this point almost ended in a fatal accident for a good friend of mine.

At the money you have it would have to be the SPAX kit. To be fair though I'd just wait a little while and get the extra bit to get some Koni top adjustables and then your sorted for good rather than making do

Managed to get a Spax kit well within my budget.

I would have held on and saved for coilovers as I loved them on my Clio, but one of my shocks has a small leak now and the suspension want's sorting really so this is a temporary, if not decent enough soloution

cheers for all the help guys
