Suspension, can someone please help me ?

Postby Gazz on Thu Jun 26, 2003 12:50 am

OK, first of all I have to say that I am on a tight budget and has meant that I have put my car together using mostly second hand parts.

But I am looking for suspension and I don't know what to go for.

After fitting 15s (I plan to go another 2" or 3" bigger just not just now). And the gap between my front wheel and the arch is fine, but ut rubs on the arch when I go over a slight bump, and is going to pop my tyre one of these times, so I need the springs stiffened. Just wondering what would be the best option to go for, cos I want the rear lowered about -45 to get it to the same distance from the tyre to the arch as the front one.

What kit/springs/dampers should I go for to get:

Stiffened front springs but NOT lower the front of the car.
Lower the car -45 and not get it rubbing like the front one does ?

Any help, much appreciated.

You say your on a budget. What kind of budget?

If ur get rubbing on 15's why don't u just get ur arches rolled if they haven't been done so far? If you already have this mod, then findout exactly where the 15's are catching.

What kind of Fez u drive?

As for the kits, this depends on how much of a drop you want and how much you want to spend.

You say you want stiffened springs but NOT lower the front?? I don't think i've ever heard of springs that are the std ride height and are stiffer. Think about this again as it dont make sense.

I don't have my arches rolled, it is on a mk3 Fiesta. The wheels are catching on the outer arch when going over bumps and rubs on the arch lining when you get full lock on.

I plan to do some other stuff to the car, eg. Bigger engine, brakes, wheels and a change in suspension.

So would I be best to invest in a set of coil overs to do all this stuff ?
