Suspension:- Codes, Coilovers & Progressive Springs

Postby Stuartcarvell on Tue Dec 18, 2007 1:28 pm

Hello,

Few questions:
When ive looked for coilover kits for the fiesta sometimes the different models are labled with three letters like GFJ and JAS etc. Does anybody know what these mean, and if it is the models whats the one for the Fiesta Si 1.6 16V?

On the fiestaturbo homepage with the technical stuff. Under suspension it talks about the Spax RSX kit having much softer springs than the Avo kit. I presume the softer springs would make the ride less harsh. As the Spax kit seems to be no longer availiable would fitting the same lb springs to the avo's have the same effect?

Has anyone fitted progressive springs to a coilover kit? is it worth it?

My daily driver is a kit car based on the Fiesta Si planning on fitting 17's but dont want the ride to be harsh hence the interest. I have read in the forum about coilovers being harsh, but shorly this is due to the wrong spring poundages?

Thanks
Stuart

A lot of the cheap coilover kits are harsh due to limited bump and rebound,Different springs may help slightly though.

Does anybody know if the dampers where more uprated on the avo coilovers than the spax stuff?
Otherwise i could just order the avo or gaz coilovers with spax rates springs.
Thanks

Aint had them on that long and i don't go out in the rain :D But theve been on there for about 3 months and look like the day i bought them , I aint cleaned them either, Yeah gold they are, I think they where about £530, And well worth the money, I had to fit 3mm spacers tho all round , cause the tires were just catching the adjustable ring, But that could be just my wheels :D
