Ive got Gmaxx at the moment which are ok for the money, ive got mine slammed 60mm but am changing it to a 30mm drop. On the subject can i just change the springs on my gmax kit from 60mm to 30mm or is a new kit needed?

Amy you can just buy springs for alot cheaper but its not as good for your car.

Amy - You dont mention what car you have, if you got a base model even suspension from a XR2i or a FRST make a difference. Spax or Koni make good kits. I wouldn't just get a spring kit, as the mk3 are ageing, and even on a newer car they arn't a good idea. Get the dampers matched to the spring rate.

Tom - Yup :D

SPAX for about £240. To be honest new standard dampers with 30mm springs works pretty damn well

Is that mk3 or mk3.5? Could be a mix of both though, being a 94. Ypu need to check the front hub sizes really, as that's what makes the difference.

As it's a base model the best thing you can do is grab some Si shocks, so you have the anti roll bar tags. Get hold of an arb and front crossmember.

This is singularly the best handling mod you will ever do to it. Dont forget to buy new arb mounts from Ford, they are only cheap. As already said, stay away from Gmax.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

i have heard an equal amount of horror story s about SPAX as i have with gmax , also my mates had a full gmax kit on 3 of his cars in the last 3 years and had absolutelly no problems , show me pictures of a damaged g-max shock and then i will start believing they are bad as i have never had a problem and neither has nearly everyone i know with gmax :o(except for broken springs )

I'm a little confused as to why they're advertised as 89-95 when clearly mk3 front shocks aren't compatible with the mk3.5? :-? :-? :-?

1994 is a Mk3.5.

Just to add fuel to the Gmax fire, I'm running on those and have to say the Spax springs were much better. So far with Gmax I've had a broken rear shock and possibly a cracked front spring, hurrah :o

http://www.fiesta-centre.co.uk

they do a 35mm spring kit, i bought these for mine and it loweres it nicely, stiffens it up a bit. and its reasonably priced at £55.32

they are custom made for them by another company so that they fit fiestas realy well apparently.

hope this is of use

Doesnt anyone think that G-MAX suspension gives a REALLY harsh ride?

Not sure if my input here is relvant but hey who cares?! :bonkers:

My AVO coilovers are a HARSH ride no matter what damper setting I use  , I've had them since 2004 and had NO problems whatsoever with them other than fighting a losing battle with the screw threads getting corroded and minging from our great British weather and salt put on the roads in winter, I now put grease on the threads to try and preserve them...

I did contemplate coing back to a "normal" suspension kit but not sure of clearance issues on the rear spring cups if i keep my 8" wide esc cos rims :-?

I have used Spax kits before and had no issues with quality, but i DID have a problem with the sping rates, The front of my car was on the deck but the back was up in the air like a "70's Dodge Charger! I ended up driving to rally design and just trying different springs until we got it right - not good going for an "off the shelf" -35mmm kit :x
