Im thinking of renewing my whole suspension setup on my XR2i 16v 1.8. I know that it needs new shocks and springs, but what else??

Any recomendations on lowering spring and uprated shocks would be gratefully received as well.

ps on a budget

ok, new spings and dampers, look at PI, G-Max about £250, think about having ur bushes uprated, powerflex will sort that out (not sure of the price), have a look at ur front wishbones too, £70 for a new pair.

trying to think of anything else lol, brains gone dead!

Change the rubber topmounts on the fronts too - about £6 a side.

Anti-roll bar bushes can be changed for Powerflex ploy ones - about £20ish a pair I think and will reduce roll a little.

Lower arm bushes - some people say go for poly, some people say don't. I'm giving my car one last chance with rubber and if it still handles like a turd on a string I'm getting poly bushes pressed in (£130 for a set from Powerflex or Superflex I think!!).

Ohhh nononononono - lower arm bushes come with the lower arms. Might I recommend for Sir:-

Spax VSX sport kit from http://www.fiesta-centre.co.uk/spax.htm - £240 - includes matched springs and shocks, lowers about 35mm
FRST lower arms - £30 a side - £60
Track rod ends - £5 a side - £10
Front strut top mounts - £6 a side - £12
Anti-roll bar bushes - £5 for rubber, £20? for poly
Cost of re-aligning tracking - £20ish?

So around the £350 mark to widen your track, make the car handle beautifully (and I promise you it will) and look better too
