T3 conversion oil return. Do I need to drill my sump?

Postby mk_83 on Sun Apr 29, 2007 7:38 pm

I've been told that the original oil return hole at the base of the CVH block is too high to use with a T3. Apparently it's almost level with the bottom of the T3 once fitted meaning oil can back up in the turbo.

It's been reccomended to me (as a must do) to plug the regular oil return/drain hole in the block and drill a new one, loer down, in the sump. Is this really necessary? It's hassle I don't need.

All the guides on here mention nothing of drilling sumps.

Absolute cobblers. All you need to do is buy the push fit block return piece and rubber pipe from Ford and it will bolt straight up as per the Escort RS Turbo which suffers with no problems.

Push fit is about £1
Rubber elbow £35

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

As steve said, both the engine in a fiesta an escort are the same design with a few tweeks here and there but nothing in the size.

Thanks guys,

I'll try to get hold of the rubber elbow from whoever I buy my T3.
