T3 conversion oil return/drain. Do I need to drill my sump?

Postby mk_83 on Sun Apr 29, 2007 7:39 pm

I've been told that the original oil return hole at the base of the CVH block is too high to use with a T3. Apparently it's almost level with the bottom of the T3 once fitted meaning oil can back up in the turbo.

It's been reccomended to me (as a must do) to plug the regular oil return/drain hole in the block and drill a new one, lower down, in the sump. Is this really necessary? It's hassle I don't need.

All the guides on here mention nothing of drilling sumps.

For the t2 i would say it's a good move as the small oil pipes are sh@# but a lot of hassle and i did it for a hybrid t2 but wouldn't ever do it again as the sump leaked from the gasket for month's for the t3 there's no point and who ever told you that is full of shi@~#
