T3 conversion questions (pics wanted)
Hi..
I'm starting on collecting all the stuff for the T03 conversion..
I've read the conversion manual .. but i want to clear some things..
- Radiator position .. does anyone have some pics (before.. during .. after)
- Exhaust mounting (using a Magnex FRST exhaust and the standard ERST downpipe) .... pics wanted...
- Oil return positioning.... what to do with the existing connection ... ??
- possibly using the existing piece ..(with threaded bolt) and cutting off .. and using a rubber hose..
Any hints or tips..
!!!!!
thanx!!!!
Soon to be runing with a fully overhauled engine .. and a fully overhauled turbo .. guessed power..... 180 BHP and 250+ NM torque (180+ lb/ft)
running a 1.6 CVH T03 .. with al the other bits i used before (-:
Watch out for the killer aubergine !!!!!!

No pictures, but rad goes forward about 1" best
You need to cut the downpipe, best to fit the downpipe to the turbo and cut it and the exhaust until they just about line up and slot them together and weld
Oil return, the frst one is treaded, it comes out with a spanner.. then replace that with the one out of a ERST, about 99pence from FORD
Use the ERST oil return pipe, about £11 from FORD

thanx.. this is the info i needed (-:
the FRST oil return was already out.. but the ERST oil return looks very differen (smaller) could be wrong.. but i'll have a look at the oil return of a m8's ERST ...
The rubber hose isn't 'just' 11 quid.. over here it'll cost me 54!!!! euro .. (about 35 quid) that's a REAL rippoff..
the downpipe will not be welded.. but clamped.. (like my magnex is right now)
the rad movement will be the easiest part..
thanx again..

[quote="Ian FRST"]You'll find its best to weld the downpipe mate.
[/qoute]
IT's hard to weld a steel downpipe to a Inox (magnex) exhaust (-: (which is normally clamped to the downpipe of the T2)
i don't have a inox downpipe..
Ian FRST :The oil return plug is interferance fit so fits straight in and stays..

The problem will be trying to fit a bigger intercooler in their as well as the T3!
Hopefully cutting into the bumper and putting it infront of the rad should do it.
