T3 query (Pics enclosed)...
I've been hoping to get a T3 conversion soon, along with a new
intercooler so I've been having a gander to get an idea how much I need
to move the radiator forward for the T3. The problem is, I just can't see
how I'm going to make the space for the rad to come forward!
As you can see in the following pic the clearance from the member that
comes down from the bonnet catch and the rad is less than 1cm and I'm
guessing that the rad is going to need to come forward more than 1cm!
Which poses a slight problem.
I've also noticed there is quite a large gap between the current turbo and
the rad atm. (see following 3 pics). Which leads me to wonder if the rad
has already been moved forward. What do you think?
What you think chaps? Those of you that have done the conversion, how
have you got around the problem of the bonnet catch member clearance?
And further, does the rad already look like it's been moved more forward
than normal?
Cheers for your advice...

just to get the ball rolling i thought id have a go at a reply. hard to tell from picture but have you got a pace radiator?? or an ally one atleast??
your right in that it looks like theres a big gap between turbo and rad already, more so than mine with a standard radiator anyway.
give IanFRST a shout [ERRR] he's just done his motor to t3 spec and he's also got a cossie type bumper too. hope that might help a bit mate

Cheers andy.
Yeah, I've been trying to catch Ian FRST's attention but had no luck so far. I'll just keep waiting...
The rad is a pace item, btw.

I can see u have no rubbers on your radiator mate - thats bad news as the alloy will stress crack in no time. When moving a rad forward it MUST be isolated from the body of the car by whatever means possible

Excursion - cheers for your reply. Where to these rubbers go? And does it look like the rad has already been moved forward?

I cant tell from looking at that pic if its been moved mate as you can simply move the botttom out - and you cant tell from that angle
the rubbers go inbetween the bracket and the slam panel on the top where the bolt goes in

you don`t need to isolate the rad
ive got an alloy rad ,bolted directly to the slam panel
been like it for a few years
my s1 has no rubber isolator on the rad either
my fiesta rad bolts up from under the front panel, angled slighly misses the t3 easily ,cut the cossie bumper more to suit the rad + i/c
