tappet clearance and HP

Postby VUK on Wed Dec 29, 2004 7:41 pm

My 1.1 was as loud as any other so the mechanic has reduced the tappet clearance, the car is now almost silent.

BUT will this decrease or increase the power? Does it affect it in any way.

:-?

if they are spot on then the power will be spot on, but if it its out either way (gap to big or too small) then this will decrease power

yep done this and i got them out and smoothed them off with the grinder :oooh:

sounded real good, could do with being set again, as they go out very quickly. but make sure you got the right amount of oil in the car because that will decrease noise aswell :)
