tappet noise, air filter

just wonderin if i put my standard air filter back on will it make the tappets quieter? been told that the k&n kind of amplifies the tappet noise and the standard filter gives better sound deadening as its bigger?

I wouldn't have said that was true, if anything the K&N would make the tappets sound quieter :P
