Did you ever PM Andy.B? He has/had my original mirror polished inlet manifold, cam cover and injector pipes, but I might've suggested that already? :-? Glad you're on the move with it all though :)

Won't go in the gearbox?

You aligned the clutch?

By the way, I don't think I've posted in this topic before now, but I have been watching with interest :)

Bit of an arse, but that's the way I did it on mine, and it made life soooo easy in the long run. Once it was together, it took me literally half an hour I think, to get the shell lifted, engine under, drop shell, lift engine into place, and bolt it up.

What you might be able to do though, is if you can get the splines in the clutch, get something on the crank pulley bolt and turn the engine while trying to align the gearbox up and push it together. Not sure how hard it is to turn a diesel engine over by hand though(?!).

as above, cos of the little space in a fiesta bay your best off lifting the shell over the engine then lifting the engine with gearbox up and bolting in.
wouldnt f uck about no more, you wasted a day from the sounds of it already so crack on and get it done :)

Uh ohhh...a painful, lesson-learning day  All the gearbox has connected to it is the mounts, cable (those three take about 5 minutes to free off) and the driveshafts (hopefully no more than 1-2 mins each) then some draining to do. Either that, or drop the wishbones and suspension struts and leave the driveshafts in to save oil loss, or you could remove the shafts at the hubs. It's not major, and will give you proper access to the 'box AND engine to mate the two :)

P.S. Cheque came today, I'll pay it in when O2 have confirmed receipt of my old phone...I left the bloody data cable in my room when I returned it!
