Simon, if you're just after backups, why not just get a pair of belt drives? I'm not being funny, but I've been running mine for 3 years and have no complaints. Sure, they're not DD and definitely not Technics, but as a backup they're great, reliable, very stable, and quite cheep - £150 the pair.
Al - 07946 742713 on the off chance you think I'm right.
BTW - what's the sound system? What kind of music? Can I come down and do a set for you guys???

Mmmm. If they are anything other than Soundlab/Gemini/Numark I'll have to pass. when was th elast time you changed the belts? what cartridges have they got and anychance of bunging in a mixer?
What music do you play? We like a mixture of drum and bass. oldskool hardcore (remember when everyone called it "Devil Music!!" acid techno and full on nosebleed gabber.
I tell you what, send me a tape. If you have a MP3 even better. I can be found on Napster under noizejunkie. or you can email me at:

Dex are SoundLab DLP1 and have never needed new belts, cartridges, pitch faders, etc - have treated em with respect (more than can be said for t' car ) and never, ever have trouble with them. Proof, if needed, is that the needles (just 500s) have lasted well over 18 months now and are still going strong (touch wood).
I agree that £300's silly money - if he owns a club, he can bloody well afford to give the buggers away, especially seeing as they're gonna be full of cigarette smoke tar, dust, crap, and will no doubt have been abused.
I only really play poncey trance, hard house and UK garage (not in the same set!!!) although my thieving MC mate still has my best 2 step and vinyl box - bastid!

Mmmmm. I'm not too keen on the idea of £300 a deck. tell him I'll give him £300 for a pair (sorry Fezzie mate, no room for trance. if u fancy playing a full-on acid techno set b2b with me ya more than welcome)
DLP1's? I'll have a think. The lightwait plastic base of em dosnt keep base out, and at the levels we have it, there will be a godalmight MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM going through the drivers!!!!!
Anyone else interest in maybe playin a set, Keep on posting. I'll be in touch. Oh Fez, any chance of a trance mix-tape?
