The escort Si & XR3i

Postby JsTurbo on Wed Mar 16, 2005 11:58 am

Just wanna know if anyone can explain the differences in engines in the mk5 SI 1.8, and mk5 XR3i 1.8.

Jus the insurance is so much cheaper in the SI like £800 cheaper with elephant. I know the performance is better in the XR3i, but with the SI engine would it be easy to gain XR3i performance easily or even more.

cheers boys,

J

As far as I know there are two versions of the mk5 xr3i. Theres a 105 bhp version which has exactly the same engine as the si, or there is a 130bhp version which is the same engine just with different cams, throttle body and ecu.

The insurance companies just love the letters xr and then chuck a couple of hundred quid on your premium.

Make sure with Elephant you are getting the full 12 months because as standard i think they offer you the ten month bonus accelerator scheme, which is cheaper than a full year, being only 10 months, but gives you a full years' no claims bonus.
