The Fezzy update .. 08/09/10 .. Pg 10
Had to deliver the front valance and rear panel this afternoon, so i remembered the camera this time If you dont want to cry, please dont look .....
This is what bodykit hides ....
New interior .....
Top of windscreen ......
The new invisible wings, saves on weight .......
The old arse end ....
I have ordered the later mk3.5 petrol cap rear quarter (and a new driver side quarter) from Ford ..... £215 each!!
This restoration is proving to be VERY VERY expensive, but will be worth it

I had the sills done 2 years ago, but the guy spraying my car has told me, that he might re-do them to his standard and back fill with wax oyl. Infact the sprayer is back filling anywhere and everywhere, with wax oyl

Looks the same when I had my RS1800 done but at least its getting there Greg! Im sure when you come back off holiday you will be suprised by the end result (thats it it is done by then!) As Paul said keep with it and enjoy once its done
What come's next? who care's, why worry about things over which you have no control. Freedom is a voyage of discovery with all the enjoyment of seeing things and experiencing events for the first time. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

What do you expect after 14 Scottish winters ??
I have had no choice but to do this properly, as any half job would come back and bite.

Whats the floor like ??? any issues there.
I remember when I had my car resprayed and the bodykit came off. not to pretty at the back. It's all ok now though.
You will love it when you go to pick it up. will look ace !!!!

Fezzy:
You should ask ford for their prices on the arches :
rear near side arche: - £200 inc vat!!
Asked around at ford, and they cant even get the skirts no more!!
Have the 2i in the bodyshop this min, and the price for the restore so far is over £3000.
Mind the car is about 60% new now with all the replaced pannel work.
Thx
Karl.

looks like the dreaded tin worm has taken a good firm hold there.
good look in removing it all.
did you get all the fuel filler neck and assorted gubbins associated with the mk3.5 filler flap? cos i read on here they're different.
good luck
JJ

Nice your replacing panels instead of bodging it.
Keep us updated.

My floor was very good actually, with only a tiny hole in the passenger footwell.
Xr2i_boy .... i did ask and thats what they cost me inc VAT .... £215 for each rear quarter not just the arch.
jdfiesta .... i have ordered the fuel filler pipe, but forgot the new type petrol cap ..... doh!
joel_winders .... you have to stop burying your head in the sand at some point
chum .... you know Gordon ??

The Fezzy has finally been moved and more work done to it. Its the usual story, when you start removing panels you find more rust
New sills going on .....
Where the fuel filler pipe goes .....
Better pic showing the extent of the rust, its not just the front panel that gets it .......
The edges of my boot are having to be rebuilt ......
Anyone got spare rear arches ??
The inner arches are being completely replaced with Ford panels, no point doing a patch job as it would come back. When fixed, ALL panels will be back filled with Wax Oyl

Zetecfiesta :jesus that is rusty!
Remember, my car has been an everyday car since 1990, hence 154k+ miles on the clock. After 14 Scottish winters with loads of salt and sand spread on our roads each year, no wonder its looking bad.
But when fixed, there are plans for sealing the arches / panels so it wont happen again
