The Flying Fiesta
My RS1800 (original reg M25 ARK).
Brought as a 29th birthday present to myself as i was down in the dumps after getting dumped lol.
Started life almost standard except lowering springs,Well i thought they were lowering springs on the test drive which was nice smooth roads,Got it nearly home and down the country lane it nearly put me in the hedge.Turns out they were just chopped springs batmad
First modification was a g-max suspension kit.
Great move that turned out to be! As a handfull of miles use and 4 up in the car one of the spring cups snapped off as i was doing 60mph!!!
With that off and returned for a refund i replaced it with spax,What an improvement that was :+
Next up a mate moaned that his mongoose stainless steel exhaust was clonking a lot under his car so i joked i will give him £50 for it (going rate then was £150+ 2nd hand!) and he said yes,I didnt realy want it but when he said yes to that i had it off him like a shot lol.
On my 30th i decided to do RS Combe trackday in it and it ran great, well until a few miles home when slowing down for traffic lights the diff decided to exit the box bigcry
Was then replaced with an Escort RS1600i Box with RST LSD nad i gave it a shake down at ford fair.Made a massive improvement
With a few miles under the belt the drivers seat wouldnt stop squeaking and it fookin annoyed the hell out of me so i purchased some bucket seats and clubman 4 point harnesses.
Then after a trackday and i saw the insides of a nova that had a crash that wasnt fitted with a cage and all the blood i went to demon tweeks and brought one along with some proper 6 point harnesses and striped the rest of the interior out to make it how it looks here
In all the years of use all its had is a new floor bigcry New rear arches,Headgasket,Front Koni's and these nice compomotives for road use
And these Compomotives for track use
Was taken off the road last year as the gearbox whines bad and the engine is very tired so in that time i have slowly been collecting parts,Most of which i will get pictures of over the next few days.
Also decided its going on a big weight loss plan,More on that when the new goodies arrive

Re: The Flying Fiesta
Are you going for a different gearbox?
The release bearing in that clutch photo is the same as used on iB5 and MTX75 boxes, but not BC/B5 boxes. Apologies if that's your intention! What also made me wonder, was that the friction plate looks like it has a larger friction area and possibly a larger spline input, but that could just be the photo?

Re: The Flying Fiesta
Been a while sinse the last update as the car has been part stripped as my other half is building a track car too and i was putting bits from this on to hers then selling the shell.
But now i've decided to go ahead with it as its cheaper fun than the cosworth track car i have been using
Just got myself some Roose hoses this afternoon
Hope to have it all u and running and fully run in for RS Combe in July!

Dingy banned me from Croft for not wanting him as chairman anymore a few years ago,so that would be a no
Even though hes in Australia i wont go as i dont have anything to do with the Derbyshire group anymore, and according to the new chairman neither does anyone else!
The target is set for Combe though

Re: The Flying Fiesta
Update looks good altho I would suggest moving where your harnesses are mounted as from the picture it looks like they're round a bolt in strut brace? Apoligys if it's not but it looks like it and I sure as hell wouldn't want my life in the hands of the bolts that hold strut braces in
