Re: the new daily, ST170 updated 30/6
After driving both, in the real world there's not much difference performance wise between these and the 2.0 esp
That's why I opted against the 170. With the extra insurance costs etc for the small gains it didn't weigh up.
Still, lovely cars though.

Re: the new daily, ST170 updated 30/6
I was tempted with minded st200 but it came down to size, I wanted the focus as it was smaller and tbh, better looking
In hine sight, the 2 litre ghost would of been just as good, but when I was looking there didn't seem to be much price difference, the sporty diesel one was another I was really tempted with, but even then that was more expensive lol so opted for the 170, but as said insurance was a bit of a shocker, tbh it wasn't too bad but more than I expected it to be, the biggest fcuker was it was cheaper in the wife's name than mine LOL and that was using less NBC too

Having owned an ST200 I can say that when they run well, they're not bad, but they're a complete c*nt to get engine spares for since the old 2.5 is more or less consigned to the history books as far as ford is concerned. Also the ride is s**t, the fuel economy laughable and the power delivery was "meh".
HOWEVER
The boot space is great, the seats and driving position are still among the best I've come across for tall / big blokes, everything about it is really, really nice to touch, hold and feel. Its lack of tactile s**t used to catch me unawares at times and I'd occasionally forget it was a Ford, but then five minutes later something would break and I'd be like "oh, yeah. F*cksticks Ford".
It's redeeming party trick though, was the noise. Find a tunnel (or mountain pass) and give it some beans - for a few brief seconds you'll completely forgive the million and one complaints as the induction roar and bellowing exhaust note echo around you.
It's now a cube thanks to a near-asleep audi driving doctor (you know, the variety that prescribe medicines). Gone but not forgotten.
I'd have an ST220 in a heartbeat though, preferably an estate but I'd settle for a hatch.
(Sorry Jay)
Nothing to see here...

Na I know what ya mean andy, the sound if the 170 is nice, even if it sounds faster than its going
It's good enough for me dispute what I've said about it plus being the Isle of Wight I'm restricted to road space lol so it's fine.
I will agree to the driving position and comfort of aimed I I've drive a few and and really like them, almost got a st24 many years ago but it was to higher priced for me at the time

Cheers bud, I will have a look when I get a chance.
Ingot no fault codes or anything showing on the dash to indicate a fault, I assume you didn't also but had the problem shown on that thread?
So tell me mate, how different does the car feel now?

I had a fault code that I couldn't clear with me equipment...
people have had this with but no fault code were the flaps can stick inside the inlet but the unit works or the arm snaps on the inlet, so the unit works and ecu thinks it does but the flaps stay shut!!
I have not driven it yet mate but the misses say its a different car and was very impressed what a difference it made !

I hear ya mate, every time I think about the clutch and flywheel on the focus I think to my self, that's some willwoods and changed for the rs LOL
Mind you I shouldn't complain, the focus has more use in 3 days than the rs gets in about 2 years (excluding ford fair run) so best spend where it's needed

Still have not done it !!! Took a mates work van to service and Mot it!!!
What a head ache job it has turned out to be!!! The injectors don't want to fire up due to no pressure in the fuel rail!!!
Possible fuel stop solenoid given up the ghost or the high pressure pump has a snapped shaft!!!! Damn it !!!
I hate motors sometimes diesel powered ones at best
