gotta admit mate, i didnt give them the credit they do deserve, since getting it ive had foot trouble meaning it was painful to do the clutch so havent driven it much where i could have a bit of fun, but dispite the wet roads today and hardly any pain in my foot, i had some fun only thing that worries me is dropping the rs in reverse when i drive it thinkign theres a 6th , na ill be fine.
im gunna leave the cat on, but i have thought about blue fin, theres a guy local to me selling one for £60 too, but one sides saying BUY IT!!!!!! the other is say,l get the belt kit done first
if it wasnt for ford fair next month i would prob end up with both, but got to tax the RS in august, and ill have it MOT'ed before fordfair, so cant spash out too much, but if its still for sale when i got some free cash i think i might just inverst in it

i assumed it would do that too, but not put it too the test as yet

really i might be pm'ing you at some point for something then mate, cant think of anything i need just yet (assuming the stat housing isnt b0llocked)
headlights might be something i would need, but dont have the money for replacment xenons head lamps right now i got a few things to try out to try and bring the plastic back up.
only other things im really thinking of for it is maybe some front mud flaps, and one of them ford plastic boot liners at some point

Re: the new daily, ST170 updated 30/6
hello mate.
yeah getting on fine with it mate, had a few things to do, like last week i finally got round to taking the thermostat housing off to replace the seals , only to find the housing was damaged by who ever took it off last and this was the cause of the minor leak, and i broke it further removing it, but it was naffed anyway so no lose there.
so got a brand new one, also got a brand new front outlet, new stat, new seals, and had the new bung to fit, and i also got a new sensor to fit in, and flushed the system through, cleaned the header tank and put new antifreeze in, and now its all good, or seems to be anyway, ill give it another week then go over it again make sure no bolts need nipping up and theres no little leaks etc.
nice one clark for getting that lot for me
also, couple weeks back, had to replace the clutch master cylinder as that was pissing brake fluid out, got the nice job of removing the carpet somewhere and cleaning it and dealing with what ever else the brake fluid has effected, underlay will have to be bined im sure, and ill clean and repaint the floor if its got that far though.
nice one to tom peters for the clutch master cylinder
it seems them master cylinders are pretty common problem, its something i didnt think to even check when i looked at mine, but it was easy to change, and pretty cheap too through tom, so worth a look when you get yours just to make sure its not seeping other wise your end up like what i had, see pics
got some front mud flaps coming, clarks bringing them over tomorrow for me
other things i got planned in the very near future is rear disc and pads as the pads are just over half worn, and the disc have a bit of a lip on them, its all good, but i need to do a rear wheel bearing and i need to take both calipers off to spin the wheels up freely to see which one it is, im sure its pass rear which was my first though but my gut told me it was the front, so changed the front and it still noisey so wasted time there
and get a rear right hand window regulator, as the window glass runner broke and the cables unwond and got jammed up, the motor is ok thankfully, the regulator is stuffed though, and the repair kits on ebay dont really seem to be doing it for me, and the scrapper aint got none in, so its fixed shut at the mo until i find one, or get fed up and buy one off ebay
apart from that, yeah its going well mate, and im ashamed to say the lexus lights still remain on the car the missis wont have it about removing them
what colour you getting?
any problems with it or should i say, minor things?

Don't sound that you had to many problems then matey.....
It is the same colour as your funny enough but fully loaded even has a rare sun roof
Has a couple parking dings and the wheels may need a refurb at some point if I'm being fussy. Looks well looked after engine bay is clean and dry no obvious leaks or faults on my viewing, drivers well no knocks or bangs
The women who owned it had it from brand new and only has 27k on the clock.... Man the interior is mint
Can't wait to get it to work and up on the ramps for a proper going over, you can only do and see so much on the side of the road

Re: the new daily, ST170 updated 30/6
na i knew about a few when i bought it, like the stat housing leaking, the wheel bearing.
the clutch master cylinder must of been leaking when i got it, but not very much, it got worse over a week leading up to changing it, which is when i noticed the fluid and put the paper in, prob would of noticed it sooner had i not had a mat in the foot well.
the window was a bit of a fcuker though, but $hit happens, easy fix really.
i think black is the best colour for st170, and this grey a close second, so you got a good colour
with 27k on the clock, i wouldnt of thought there be much wrong with it at all mate.
i saqw a focus with a sunroof the other day you know, not that ive ever taken much notice in the pst, but it might be the first one ive seen with a sunroof??? but this one looked like a DIY job, i would be interested to see a pic of your sunroof setup to see if its the same sort of thing
if you decide to go and fit a double din head unit like i did, i got a proper double din fitting kit i got from the states sat in the shed, you can have it for what i paid for it and not have to wait 3-4 weeks for delivery hence why i didnt use it, as i got fed up waiting and made my own kit

Picked up the st170 goes alright on the motorway
Pleased with my purchase for £2350
Jay do the clutch pedals feel quite high on these, as it bites a bit higher than half way!!! I prob will put a clutch in it next year anyway along with doing the timing belt
But it pulls fine no slipping

Re: the new daily, ST170 updated 30/6
Sound like a good one mate
Your biting point is about where mine is, I dont have any slipping and it pulls fine.
intact, I have had a couple of clutch slips, but ive put it down to the bagged master cylinder, as if I was sat on a hill near where I live at the lights its in gear clutch down waiting for the lights which could be upto a min, tjen once i go its seemed to slip until i took my foot off, then.it wouldn't slip again when i put my foot down even planting it, so ive assumed its the cylinder not letting the fluid back down to the slave quick enough after having the clutch in for a while??
Also both times its slipped its been on the same hill and both the same way as said ago e, since master cylinder change touch wood and that its not slipped at all.
So i assume both ours are right, not driven another st170 before so dont have anything to compair to.
the st has a dual mass flywheel too, if you getting rattles and stuff from it your need to replace when you do clutch, they ain't cheap.
Also chuck in a new slave while us there, rude not too considering the amount of work to remove the box lol.
make sure its clean for the pics

Yeah good cheers mate, had a worry other week, I pulled up and reversed n the drive then noticed the line of water down the oaf and back on the drive and thought fcuk, I got a water leak but it was over spill from the washer bottle
But yeah it's fine mate, need to do the brakes soon as the rear pads are getting low, and I got a feeling at some point this year I'm gunna have to do a clutch, but yeah, touch wood and all that
How's yours going mate? Did you start a thread [ERRR] I don't recall one, unless I did and forgot about it, which is poss, had a lot going on for last few months, hence not been on here as much

Re: the new daily, ST170 updated 30/6
Lol.
Bet that wasn't a cheap fix, a car and 2 sensors but I think it's a sort of common thing as in when one goes you change both sort of thing.
Not looking forward to doing the clutch on mine, as I think it's gunna be expensive, as in flywheel replacement expensive, but I might opt for the std flywheel conversion rather than a dual mass, but ill look into it a bit more when the time comes.
Question for ya, do you find yours sluggish off the line in first?
With mine if I wanted to boot it off the line, its like it almost bogs down until the revs catch up unless I give it high revs, it's a strange one as it pulls like a train, not lacking any power at all, it's just off the line it struggles, to the point my old 1.6 escort would take the lead right from the lights but a few seconds later it wakes up and it's game on
And I can rule out if this is a clutch/flywheel issue though, hence why I think it's gunna be expensive come
Clutch time
Lets know if ya start a thread up, if I miss it that is lol

Yes mate I find you have to pretty much rev the nuts out the car to get it to perform in anyway... From a stand still it feels sluggish and I'm wanting more from the car lol
Even my misses says the car feels sluggish at low revs

Re: the new daily, ST170 updated 30/6
Ah that's good then, we'll not, but yes as in I feel better its not just mine that does it
I did think about blue fin ages ago, can't remember if I said about it in this thread, but someone local was selling one for a st170 but after speaking to super chips they told me once its used on a car it needs to be reset to be used on another car, of course, at cost which made it as near as damn it the same cost as buying new so didn't bother

No mate they are that poor you don't get the wheels spinning lol
I heard they had poor performance but now owning one I'm quite gutted how poor they really are !! The misses wanted one as she loved her old focus but loved the look of the st and the recaro seats so we got one !!
Think we may sell it in summer and buy a BMW 1 series as she likes them lol

Gotta say I am a little disappointed with the performance of it over all, but once the revs get up it does take off, once you hit 5k the vvt comes in to play and its pretty good lol, but I don't have many roads long enough to have a good play at that rev range on the island
As for wheel spinning, I'm too old for that now, but I get the wheels slipping even with the traction control on some times

no Jony I guess not
But to be fair it is still a nice car and its got got plenty of torque, I can do a hill on the downs over here in 5th and its still pulling, and the 6th gear mean I can do 70 for like 2k revs or something
On the flip side to that I only got just over 200 miles to £50 the other week, and that was mostly
Motor way driving, oh erm, at the legal limit of corse
Put it this way, I would buy another but really if I could afford it I would swap it got a st2/3 any day
