I am quite liking COD5. Some of the maps are huge, and i think with these larger maps, it is encouraging a different style of play.

Insane, i got your invite last night, but i was playing Zombie mode with a few others. Now that is a good mode.

You've gotta complete single player first, then you can invite upto 3 others in (who don't have to have completed the solo campaign). It starts off slow, then as you level up the Nazi Zombies start coming thick and fast. You get "money" for kills, boarding the windows back up and reviving others. Which you use to buy ammo and better guns.

Im loving COD 5 , never played COD 4 to compare it to though.

Completed it on normal now which was pretty easy. Loving the online play , much better than Halo 3 which was my fav online game up till now. It is hard online though as there are some proper hardcore people on there who are unbeatable.

A lot of people had the beta on the Xbox 360, so they probably know the maps inside out now...

InS@[ERRR] :worse thing is on round house you can go under without even having to piss about to much i can get under the map in about 2 seconds now

roll on cod6 and infinity ward

Ditto all that - it just points to not enough playtesting. Funny seeing forums though, a lot of people were fair creaming themselves over this release, saying how much better than COD4 it was going to be with interactive environments etc (you can blow some barrels up, wahoo). *sigh* Proof is in the pudding though, it'll sell s**t just because COD4 was so good.

Oh and if anyone ain't played COD4 and you can get it for a reasonable sum (Or in some peoples cases, for free) then it's really worth a look. Can't believe it's £30+ for it on 2nd user in most places round here.
Nothing to see here...

Sorry about the lack of updates, back on it.

Updated the list, think I got them all, let me know if I have missed anyone.

I don't go online much now (on the 360 anyway) I have been converted to a PC gamer as my PC now makes the 360/PS3 look poor.

Either way you can catch me on guitar hero world tour, love it. :)

random but i ave just been given one of the new ps3 chat pads to go on the controller and i love it.

there are a couple of downsides in that you charge it seperate but this also a bonus as it dont use ya controller power.. but this means there is an on and off switch so if ya leave it on it'll die lol. charges thou of ya original ps3 lead and depending on how often ya use it aint a bummer to keep it topped up.

on a plus side thou you can use it without the contoller as a small keyboard so dont need to have the contoller in ya hands at all times when typing loads of stuff out

missis got mine from play for about 18 quid i think much better than the 25 i think they will be or are in the shops :o

True, with that you can build a PC to about the same level as the 360/PS3 for less than 300, or in my case get obsessed with running Crysis on top settings and spend £200 of graphics alone.

I quite like the new Xbox thing, the Mii60's are a bit pointless, the rest is good.

not really, find a graphics card that will do 1080p to ps3/360 standards for cheap!!

even a cheap cheap pc is expensive

memory 40
case 20
p/supply 20
mobo 50
hard drive 50
dvd 20
mouse/kboard 10
graphics 80
processor 80

making it 370ish thats 70 quid more than top ps3 and 240 more than the basic 360!!! if you want cheap gaming buy a console if you want fancy gaming bite ya ass buy a awesome pc my pc card was 180 alone

InS@[ERRR] :not really, find a graphics card that will do 1080p to ps3/360 standards for cheap!!

Errmmm, find a 360/PS3 which can push 1080p to 360/PS3 standards... its only a few games, which usually have less detail etc to make it, the rest are upscaled from 720p (or sometimes less)

InS@[ERRR] :even a cheap cheap pc is expensive

memory 40
case 20
p/supply 20
mobo 50
hard drive 50
dvd 20
mouse/kboard 10
graphics 80
processor 80

I do believe your price are pushing it a bit:
memory 16 (2 GB)
case 13
p/supply 20
mobo 50
hard drive 45 (500GB)
dvd-rw 15
mouse/kboard 6
graphics 60 (3870/8800GT)
processor 63 (E5200)

So £288 plus a few fans etc brings you in at £300.

By all means the above spec won't really be any better than the 360/PS3 but will will be pretty much the same. Yes it does cost more as a PC gamer eitherway I am not debating that but the above PC will do other things the others don't do aswell.

Fair enough there is those of us who like a PC to outperform the consoles myself included and then the prices are a different league I spent £200 on a GB 4870 myself, but its still worth every penny.

nah man thatspec wont out perform a console imho, 16 quid mem aint goin to decent quality, a 13 quid case will be s**t lol
and 6 quid mouse and keyboard i'd rather wipe my ass with than use for a game lol

decent keyboard and mouse ya looking at 30+ same as a console which is a bummer..

another thing is OS if ya go legit there's more money againi know ya wont buy it but goin legit like ya would be on a console os wise it's just another cost

The ram is kingston and more than good enough quality.

Keyboard and mouse, won't be bad, make it £10 if you must and get an adjustable dpi laser mouse.

As for a case, at that price its black and it fits all the bits, you don't need more than that.

I never said it would be better than the consoles, but will perform around the same level. There is always the value added arguement, as an example I do a lot of video editing and My PC is more than up to it due to its gaming/overclocked nature.

By all means I wouldn't bother with the above spec, if on a budget I would spend a bit more and go for a 4850, 4GB ram a better CPU and overclock it, yes that makes the cost more than the consoles but if you are going to have a gaming PC you may aswell spend a bit more and go better than the consoles.

True with an OS, personally I got an OEM license on the cheap, for something I am going to use everyday £70 isn't reallly much money.

On the flip side if somebody chooses not to pay for an OS or games at that the PC soon becomes cheaper, but I wouldn't premote that kind of behaviour.

Eitherway we can go around the houses with PC specs, just trying to point out gaming PCs aren't as expensive as people seem to think.

Nice specs, prices have come down since I made my original post, why go AMD out of interest?

I believe the 4830 is excellent value, how good is it at 1080p? I have a 1GB 4870 which eats games at 1080p.

On a budget I have found an e2180 at £25 can overlock to 3ghz quite easily, so with a card like a 4830/4670 you really could make an excellent and cheap system.

I've always stuck with AMD, have never had any problems with them at all and no reason to switch to Intel. The last Intel processor I actually bought rather than inherited was a Pentium Overdrive (166Mhz!)

The 4830 I'm led to believe is essentially the same as the 4850. Runs very very well at 1080p, GTA IV for instance at 1680x1050 (not quite 1080) runs at about 45-50fps, Live For Speed is nearer 200fps :)
I can overclock the Phenom to 3.0Ghz fairly easily if I knew the ins and outs of overclocking and timings and voltages etc

I fitted a 4850 to my brothers PC and he is very happy with it, fair enough on AMD, I am not going to say they are completely useless but unless you get a good price Intel really are dominating right now, both on prices right from the top to bottom end. As said its the prices which is the problem, less performance for less money is fine.

The x4 9950 is still a great processor either way, that will be helping massively with GTA as its does put a lot of strain on the processor.

List updated. I think it may be time for a clear up of the list, if you or someone you know has changed there user ID or gave up completely then can you let me know.

I have been playing FEAR 2 recently, excellent game, does have some mixed reviews, but at 40" 1080p with 8xAA and 7.1 audio in a dark room its amazing. If you are a 360 owner make that 720p with 4xAA or a PS3 owner 720p with no AA. Either way I am sure it still works the same.
