Re: The ST170 Track prepped Mk1, Update, 24-07-08 It RUNS!!!
Jamie, yes buddy closing the end of this month. No the car won't be finished by Ford Fair, hopefully by Trax though.
CarbonSexyBum, Thank you sire!
XRSI, Won't have the time for a bit I'm afraid mate, it's exceptionally busy, and I don't seem to have time to stratch my arse at the minute. However, if you would like to come down and scratch my arse, maybe we can work something out..?
Sphinx, You can have me any time you like!
Thanks for all the other comments guys!
Update:
Had an eventful couple of days.
The fuel system is now complete:
I have also now fitted the rad, we needed to make some brackets to hold it in properly and remove the OE ones to make it sit as far forward as we could. It's about as big as I think will fit, so hopefully enough, I also fitted the fan:
One front seat now fitted, this isn't the actual type of seat that will be fitted, but its one we had hanging around, so will be used for mapping ect:
I then uploaded a basemap and settings we had used on a previous Zetec:
The old girls runs a treat. Very pleased with the running. It even idles half sensibly!
Vidness:
I'm planning on getting the driveshafts sorted first thing this morning, then onto the Dyno for mapping!
Hopefully we will see some figures by the weekend.
A fibreglass bonnet and bootlid have now also been ordered.
More updates soon:

Such a great project
Might be a daft question, but where did you get the Jenveys from? Direct from Jenvey themselves or elsewhere?

I buy a fair bit from Jenvey directly bud. Most of those parts came from jenvey direct, however the actual bodies themselves came S/H from 'Freak Power' on here.
Thanks for your comments,

Re: The ST170 Track prepped Mk1, Update, 24-07-08 It RUNS!!!
While Steve is away for a long weekend at some bumpkin camping show, I will mostly be taking over this thread in his absence
Steve made up the driveshafts today, as well as finishing off other loose ends (including coolant system plumbing) that would allow me to get the car over to the dyno for mapping. Sadly he had to leave before the first real fire-up with water in the system. The engine was running for 20 minutes tonight to get it properly hot, check for leaks, tweak the fuelling at idle and generally have it ready to go on the dyno first thing in the morning, which is where it's up to now. Hydraulic clutch, all gears and driveshafts work fine, brakes are extremely sharp, fuel system is top notch...is anyone surprised?
I completed mapping Steve's other project car yesterday, but there will be a post about that when he returns I expect. A slightly different take on automated transportation, I can say that much! All being well tomorrow we should have final power and torque figures by the evening I have to rush off up North on Saturday/Sunday for Ten Of The Best, and the dyno will be in the back of a van to go up to Cumbria on Tuesday, so cross your fingers for this little car!

Re: The ST170 Track prepped Mk1, Update, 24-07-08 It RUNS!!!
Minor update
Mapping is now complete up to 6,500rpm with locked cam timing, giving us 156bhp and 120lbft. Now the majority of the mapping is completed (we will rev to 7,500rpm), it leaves the entirity of Monday to explore the Variable Cam Timing to really make the engine sing. The ST170's VCT system adds an enormous 60 degrees of advance to the inlet cam, so we are not too disappointed with the current power output given that we're effectively running 60 degrees retarded on the inlet cam.
As I mentioned last night, Steve is away as of 6am today until Sunday night, so I was left alone with the car today. It is a credit to him that even such a "rushed" project gave me very few problems. Once the throttle bodies were balanced and the map played with it was idling beautifully after a matter of minutes, but a charging issue was the only real problem I've had today, and have so far used three batteries as it kept draining them. All three will be fresh again by Monday when I return from the North, but minor issues like this are of no concern to us right now. As long as it is fit enough to be mapped before the dyno is packed up, it's just fine!

Re: The ST170 Track prepped Mk1, Update, 30-07-08 179.9bhp!
Thanks for everyones comments!
Jimmy, do you have a dyno plot for your old one as a matter of interest? I would love to see the power curve.
As James says above the alternator isn't bloody charging for some daft reason, I'm not sure why, I think possibly it's faulty, I've been through the wiring to double check.
Well, mapping was completed and came in at 179.9bhp. We're pretty pleased with that tbh, a set of cams would probably bring the tail end of the power curve up a bit higher, and climb more. But overall it's looking like it's going to be a fun drive! Once the VVT comes in, which is user assignable on the Emerald, it gains stupid torque and power! And sounds great!
The driveshafts:
The car on the rollers:
Jim mapping:
Thanks to Jim for an excellent job mapping.
We have had a bit of a disaster though, the bloody dual mass flywheel decided to destroy itself on the final run. A new lightened alloy flywheel and uprated clutch are now on order from the states.
Onwards...

Sorry mate, I haven't, but I reckon the other "James" who bought her from me will have as he had her rolling-roaded and made 177.7 BHP on the standard ST170 Inlet. He's registered as "Gregs" on this forum.
Bloody Dual-Mass Flywheels are fcuking Chump I have a Fidanza one on order for my 2.3 Duratec beasty at the moment

Re: The ST170 Track prepped Mk1, Update, 28-10-08 Fibreglass!
Jimmy, Would like to see what Dyno that was on, but deffo good power, top work. The inlet system on the ST is good already. We had to lose it unfortunately due to room. Still the bodies will certainly help for not so distant power plans.
Well, not been much going on of late tbh, however the fibreglass bonnet & boot have turned up finally. Absoloutely top notch, very pleased with them! The new headlights are also in, some Mk1 golf ones. Plus the doors are painted, the makralon windows fitted, and fitted to the vehicle.

Thanks for the replys guys.
Done me bloody knee in so not much been going on of late. Hopefully be back on my feet properly within a couple of weeks.
A trip to Merlin Motorsport at castle combe. A pair of new seats:
The downpipe has been fitted with a boss for a HEGO, and wrapped ready for refit.
The bonnet has now been fitted properly. It has four bonnet pins. It needs some slight trimming still round the headlights.
We started making up the sliders for the front windows:
All finished:
More soon with any luck,
Steve

Jay, Tell me about it, these things take time though!!
Dave, Will have a look next time we're near buddy.
Bas, Thanks mate. Certainly plenty of potential in the ST lump!
Kayll, Cheers mate, hopefully it will fly!
Jimmy, Cheers mate! Mk1's rule!
Mark, Thanks mate!
Well things have actually started to move along a bit now!
Strut brace has now been completed,
You may also noticed the cam cover has now been powder coated white.
The new centre console:
It houses the new fuse box / relays. It houses the emergency power cut-off, fire extinguisher pull, switches and power outlet.
The car will be completely rewired some time next week to accomodate the new fuse board.
