Throttle bodies on RS1800
Hi guys,
I was planning to use throttle bodies on my RS1800 but unfortunetly I don't know much about them. I know how to fit them onto the engine and all but don't really know about the ECU and injectors. What injectors are used? What about the ECU? Can you use the original Ford ECU?
And the typical question; What power gains should I expect if everything else is kept standard?
Thanks from beforehand

Re: Throttle bodies on RS1800
you cant use your management, it wouldnt run right. Usually when you buy TB kits you get the management with them.
i would expect an extra 30bhp from the bodies and management combined. without upgrading anything else

Re: Throttle bodies on RS1800
Cheers mate.
I was planning to use Suzuki GSXR TBs.
Do you mean I should use the Suzuki ECU or an aftermarket one like megasquirt?
What about injectors? Suzuki or Ford?
I know some of these questions might sound a bit silly guys but not many throttle bodied Fiestas here in Malta so I'm a bit in the dark.
thanks

No worries mate, we are here to help
you need an aftermarket ecu, megasquirt is good IMHO, a few matres have used it to great success
as for injectors, you use ford injectors, as the TB's will be custom mounted to the top half of the inlet, retaining the injectors and fuel rail

Re: Throttle bodies on RS1800
Cheers mate. everything is starting to make more sense now.
So do I use the original injectors from the RS1800 or the more common type found in the XR2i 8v? I've also seen a guide where they use the fuel rail and the first part of the manifold from an ST170 so I assume they use injectors from the ST too. Ideally, keeping my injectors would work out cheaper but what would you recomend?
Regarding aftermarket ECUs, do they come with a complete loom which matches all the sensors in the engine? The old ECU will be completely disconnected and the new ECU will control everything(spark, fuel, timing, cold start...) yes?
thanks
