Ticker tape generator?

Can we have an auto ticker tape thingy across the top of the screen, all over the site, which tells us when people log in, which are the day's most visited topics (with links), any news (e.g. so-and-so has fitted 20" wide wheels to his Mk1 pop plus, etc), most recently posted topic heading, good stuff on telly(!), site rules, hints & tips - whatever, whenever, it's just that this could all be entirely automatic.

Honest, it *is* a good idea! :grin:
