Tightening Throttle Cable

Postby rankinator on Thu Apr 12, 2007 4:19 pm

Anyone know how I go about doing this? My throttle cable is getting stuck, WD40 seems to rectify it for a while but eventually it comes back. I heard tightening the cable should do the trick but I don't know how to do it

well in a mk4/5 - in the engine bay the throttle cable runs around and half way round that cable there it like a block and you twist it and it tightned the cable.

thats how i've done it anyway and it does mae it abit more responsive.

I can't find the box you're on about. I found a small box where the throttle cable is visible and could turn it but it just went round and round, had no effect on the tightness of the cable.

It's a mk4 btw

the problem i had was the throttle pedal was loose - so i spinned the little thing coming out the box - its on the left hand side of the engine bay and looks like a bike cable- and it tightned up the pedal so i guess it tightned the cable-

or where the cable leads to the injectors - you may be able to ajust it there but i cant explain it anymore without getting any pictures and i cant get any.

sorry dude hope ya get it sorted.
