To roll or not to roll that is he question?

Postby NOTTS Si on Tue Feb 03, 2004 10:21 am

Ive lowered my Si 50mm on 195/50/15.The back is fine with no rubbing at all.The front looks mint but catches slightly on full lock or going over potholes.I want to keep the gap to a minimum so would it be beter to get 45 profiles or roll the arches? I thought that by rolling he arches i would be creating a gap is this true? Cheers guys

I had problems with the back!!
Get a FRST steering rack these only have something like 2.5 turns lock to lock, so ur wheels wont scrub on full lock at all!

No no no! they have less turns lock to lock but afaik the amount of lock is the same. there is no easy way to get around ctaching on the inner arch at full lock other than just not turning to full lock!

you can trim or roll the outer lip and maybe fit spacers but they may make the pothole problem worse.

Rolling the arches shouldnt create a gap since its only the inner lip of the wing that is rolled, if thats where the tyre is catching then have them rolled. If the tyre is rubbing on the inner acher liner then u can simply either remove the plastic liner all together, or re-position the liner further into the engine bay (the better option, generaly requires some trimming etc to fit.

dont think it will solve the pothole problem though.

There's no need to get your arches rolled if they're not the problem. Turn the wheels to full lock and check. Feel all round to see if you can feel if/where they're touching. If it's the arch liner, I say just trim it back to leave enough clearance.
