What top speed are people getting in their 2 litre zetec si's? Just wondering cos i can only seem to get about 125mph on the clock. Only tried once though. Thats with a fiesta rst box.

yea i thought the speedo might not have been accurate but my mate confirmed it by staying right next to me for a good few seconds in his 350Z nob then accelerated past that speed making me look as if i slammed the brakes on. was impossible to catch up with him, unless i perform some kind of harpoon/grappling hook mod to the front of the car, then next time he will never be able to loose me

Alan Fibblesnork :Err, Mav, your redline (6,750ish) is around 120mph.
No offence to your speedo, but I think it might be a *touch* out
thats what i thought but then again iv got a new gearbox on which has altered ratios for 1st and 5th gear. also u mention the redline?? odd, when i floor it the revs shoot past the 7k mark off the scale. a tuning centre took a look at it and said it was revving to 7250rpm. not sure why or how? any way i can find this out?

gearbox
do u think it's maybe the fiesta rst gearbox thats holding me back then, because it's not getting past 125mph, and it doesn't even seem to be trying - ie the revs are just around 5000 rpm......?????

i noticed that in me car if i got it floored in 5th gear and i am going up an incline the top speed seems to stop at around 5000-5200rpm and speed will not increase until the ground becomes level or downhill. i hear that this is something to do with torque. how can the engine be made to produce more torque at higher rpms?

XR2i 16v, MAX it can do is 140 [ERRR] it will hit the limiter. Power engineering showed me this on the rolling road. RS1800 gear box has THE same ratios unless modded with different wheels and ratios. Dunno bout the turbo. If u know u have a decent clutch, use your rev counter as a guide to how fast your going. I got it to just over 6500 revs. So i was in the area of 130. On a pivate road of course

ok had another london trip so i thought id give it a short bash this time i checked the speedo and rev counter to see what the colaboration is. well it was doing 120mph at around 5200rpm (5th gear). one good thing is iv got a lot more economy on the motorway from the car since i had the new gearbox done. odd thing is we got a 1.6 escort si and that generally seems to be better on fuel as the fiesta. is there a difference in the escort and fiesta si engines?
