Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Got hit....
For those that haven't seen my facebook status....
A women drove into the back of me on my way home from work. I was stationary, and she hit me between 5-10mph. She was distracted by her phone vibrating!!
My back aches, which is what I'm most worried about at the moment (family has a history of hereditary back problems anyways!!)
I haven't yet had the bumper off to inspect the panel behind, but i'll do that tomorrow. I've got the girls number, and to be honest I'm probably just settle privately and claim compensation for my back if needs be.
Heres a few pictures that are on facebook... Oh and excuse the filthy car!!
Her car, just one of the side (arch) mounts is broken...
and my car...
When I got out my car, I straight away went over to her, without looking at my car. I hadn't heard glass smash, so I knew my MHWs were fine
It was when I asked 'What happened?' as she looked at the back of my car and went 'Ohhh...sssssshh' that I turned around to look. She made it sound like a lot worse had happened!!

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Right, Small update time! (Yey!!)
Christmas Eve, I got bored and finally changed the bulbs in my speedo to red (yes, I just used red bulb paint on them  Oh well!)
No photos yet, will get some when I remember!!
Monday of this week, It was VERY cold! I went out to the car in anticipation of moving up to the top of my drive for it to defrost in the sun! Bad choice that was!
The electrics in the passenger door had completely frozen over (was cold enough for inside of windscreen to be just as icy as the outside!! - somehow! :| )
Basically this sent my alarm completely crazy and as a result drained the battery. I thawed out the door and got a jump from my dads $k0d@.
It then all of a sudden warmed up!! So I popped to halfords to get some more stuff that I needed, got home and cleaned my car Yes, thats the first time since Ford Fair!!
Anyways, these are pretty pants pics of midway through, but you get the ideas
On Christmas Day I ordered some wind deflectors from Ford Parts UK, these arrived this morning, so I got out of bed! and fitted them...
There you go! Thats actually some form of update to this thread!! - Dont say I neglect it!

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
It turns out that the ZS skirts aren't made from ABS as I originally assumed.
They are made from a Polyurethane Resin with a little bit of fibreglass mixed it.
Unfortunately Polyurethane Resin is one of the only plastics you can't actually plastic weld!! Also when you melt it (Like I have been, without a face mask) it lets of a cyanyde gas! Double Great!!
Anyways, Have repaired the cracked one with the epoxide resin I used to smooth my rear bumper in the first place and that is holding well. It be ok as long as no-one drives into the skirts (Stones being thrown at it etc will be fine.)
The one with the gaping big hole though, I need to think about. I can either just fibre glass it and reinforce that with some aluminium meshing. Or I can make up a template of expoide and place that on.
Need to look into which would be stronger with the Polyurethane Resin though...

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Theres a few missing photos, but I cba to find them!!
Ok, so this weekends progress on the skirts...
All sprayed up, just need flatting back and polishing.
My old traniers from the overspray
and then I went and test fitted them on my car...
I am also in the middle of photoshopping things, so will put some more of those up later, if I ever finish them....
This weekend, if the weather is nice; I plan to sort a tiny little bit of surface rust on my o/s/r arch, roll it further as it just catches again now, then if I get time make a start on repairing the rear bumper.

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Rght ok. Here's what I wanted to do this weekend:
sort tiny bit of surface rust on o/s/r arch.
roll arch lip a bit more on o/s/r arch.
flat back and cut side skirts. (both on saturday)
start on repairing rear bumper.
and here's what I did instead
flat back and cut one side skirt on saturday.
flat back and cut the other on surnday.
then I removed the door bump strips aswell today.
I went to go to halfords this morning to get some stuff, but as I was travelling my n/s bump strip starting flapping about as both ends had come off (one end was already off, and the other was loose) so it was only held a little bit in the middle. that's why I took them off today.
And here are the photos from this weekend...
The skirts all finished....
Then started de-striping the passenger door (this is the one that fell off) This took 1hour
Then de-striped the rear quarter, which took 20 minutes
Then moved onto O/S rear quarter, again took 20 minutes.
Somehow, I got lucky with the O/S door. I managed to pull it off, along with most of the glue...!
30 minutes later
Have to clean and polish it next weekend and those remaining dirt marks will go

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Ok, So heres todays update from last week. - This is for all sites, so some of this may be repeated.
On thursday night, I went got a new MOT put on her. I managed to tighten the handbrake enough to get it to pass that bit.
However, after about an hour of being parked she decided to roll down my drive into the front of my house
This is the section of drive I was parked on
I was parked about 1/2 a meter further back...
She rolled and luckily caught the rear wiper (which I dont use anyways) on the window ledge.
This is the damage to the wiper... Still works though!
Bent slightly...
No other damage was done to the car.
This is the damage to the window ledge
And an oily splat from when I started the car so close to the wall!
Anyways, onto the weekend.
First things first was to sort the handbrake. Took it to the garage and got the rear drums off. It seems the self adjusters that were replaced this time last year, weren't self adjusting. Infact, the shoes were replaced in July, and the O/S set had literally no wear on them!! So they were manually adjusted and all is fine now.
Once I got home I decided to start working on some rust patches.
The O/S/R arch was bubbling in two places and the O/S door was bubbling in the front corner.
So I rubbed them back and put some "Hammerite rust removing gel" on them.. worked quite well tbh.
Its hard to see, but thats one patch of the O/S/R arch...
and the other patch...
and the door...
Masked everything up and covered in red primer...
I then got bored of watching paint dry and decided to start digging out the old filler and chemical welding from the bumper...
Took fooking ages but got most of out before it got dark...
What I didn't get out I left till sunday morning and finished it off...
A nice bag of filler remained
Then I set about plastic welding...
I burn myself doing this first bit. I had a feeling it was going to be a long afternoon!!
Went all the way around...
It stayed like this for a while..
However, I then got bored and coated it in filler, but didn't take any pics as it is dark.
That is how I will be driving it for this week. I might get a chance one evening to sand it back and primer it just to protect it a little bit more, but we'll see...

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
This weekend I was playing taxi for my brother as his water pump is leaking on his focus, meaning I didn't get as much time on the car as previous weekends...
I flatted back the filler and primered it. This is the only photo I took...
I plan to take it off next saturday and spray it red, leave it off overnight, flat it and compound it on sunday morning before refitting for the afternoon to go GoApe. But obviously, that requires nicer weather.

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Righto! Had saturday only to do any work as was at GoApe on sunday with FiestaTurbo.
I woke up, looked out the window, and saw frost!!
Went out anyway and proceeded to take the bumper off...
I couldn't be bothered to jack the car up and remove the rear wheels to get to the two screws, so took about 30 mintes to get those out.
Then I couldn't find my 1/2 drive ratchet, which I needed for my deep 13mm socket  But I got a pair of mole grips and managed to get the nuts off that way...
By the time the bumper was off the frost had all gone
Spotted a little bit of surface rust, so I treated that first of all...
As you can probably see in this picture, the rear panel has infact been bent There is also a small amount of water getting into the boot, right by the nut to drop the wheel carrier. So need to look into that ASAP.
I then Decided to wash the car whilst the bumper was off, gave the rear panel a quick clean too as that was filthy...
I didn't take any pics at this point, waited till I got the rear bumper on...
So, the rear bumper went on, and then I cleaned up (managed to get overspray on it) and refitted the numberplate..
Rest of the car clean too....
You may also have spotted, whilst I had the bumper off, I cleaned the exhaust good n propper too (if you compare to old pics, you'll spot it)

Heres the two photos I took this weekend. Only two cause I've lost the lead for my phone so the battery diededed.
Will try and get a couple more prooving they hold themselves up (lol) during the week...
I haven't screwed them on at all, they are just held up by tiger seal, and are still on despite 3 figure speeds this morning

Sanded, Primered, wet sanded, primered and fibreglassed (the two small cracks) on my new splitter last night....
Then got bored and found a nearly empty can of red and sprayed the bottom bit... I may do this (along with the fog light recesses) in whichever shade of black I use.... Or may just do the whole thing red and attach a laguna or espace splitter to the bottom....
