TreColl's Mk4! - The Final Update!?!
Re: TreColl's Mk4!
i like that front splitter alot fella, you have done a good job there making a standard bumper more appealing without making it look too in your face.
Dont relocate the front number plate - will make it look odd
i have mixed opinions on the fitment of rear spoiler
opinion 1 is yes a zetec s spoiler will finish back end off like every other rear end out there
opinion 2 is that it looks quite smooth and euro looking without a spoiler which matches your smoothed rear bumper
the choice is yours

Does look pretty damn sexual I must say! I'd go with a rear spoiler though. Completes it then

anytime fella
its not that i dont like mk4 fiesta's
they just need subtle modifications
which dont involve slapping on a Zetec s front bumper

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
quick question regarding fitting zetec s side skirts.
i offered up a set to my bros mk4 on wednesday and i cant see a easy way of finding out where to drill the holes for the plastic clips to pop into?
on the sides they must screw and rivet to the sills
cheers
Clark

No, but I guess masking tape along the sill, bit of wet paint on all the clips and line it up would do the trick!

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
After that, the black wheels went on, along with wonky stripes for FiTP.
Then, at ford fair I bought jonyb4's smooth tailgate, and switched it over whilst there!!
Before....
The F4OC team helped to switch them over!! Thanks again everyone involved and thanks Dave for this pic (I stole it )
The final result! Thinking about fitting a black spoiler though to add a bit of contrast back again

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Oops! This is out of date again!
A black spoiler was eventually fitted and looks better
On Sep 2nd, I finally blew up the (second) 1.25! A puma lump was swiftly ordered and fitted on the 12th.... I had finished everything and was bleeding the clutch and must have overtightened the baxterd bleed nipple as it snapped the slave cylinder!!
Anyways, on Sunday, my mate came back round and we done the clutch and slave cylinder and its finally on the road!
Yesterday though, I noticed that my speedo werent working - thankfully, connecting the speedo cable to gearbox fixed this
Needs a bloody good clean as its been sat on my drive for a month and is covered in grease and oil on the front half. After I've cleaned it I'll get some decent pics.
A couple of bits need doing to the car still, like the rocker cover gasket and sump gasket (rocker is ordered, sump can wait a bit as its not as bad...) but the main priority is the wishbones as these bushes are well and truely cream crackered! Umming and aaahing about what to get though, but I think it'll be Ford ones with poly's... OR, area six camber adjustables with poly's...

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
ah glad it was swiftly sorted (although a month isnt that swift)
mind you id not want to jepodise what you've just achieved by running bad arms, get them done!
fords with plys is fine, mind you, if only the bushes are franked in your currents, why not just fit the poly bushes to them?

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
you can buy replacement ball joints that you simply bolt onto the lower arm, you cut the rivets off the old ones, the only upgrades you can get for these is rose joints, and these arent suitable for road use

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
god thats dreadful, no wonder i choose patterns, say ford ones last 12 months, it would still be cheaper to buy two sets of patterns that last maybe half the time or more
and its the bush that fails first in most, so you can just poly bush them if the boot on the ball joint is fine

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
jony you must know ford items will last longer than 12 months. They are made from better materials than ebay or motor factor examples.
First line for instance make some shocking anti roll bar drop links. The bush is dry and is housed in a plastic insert. The genuine item uses a lubricated bush with a metal housing.
Lower arms are same story. Made down to a cost instead of same quality.
My opinion on cheap suspension parts are quite clear especially with the state of roads in this country and loads of speed bumps.

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
I've just bought a pair of wishbones on ebay, that were listed as genuine ford.
They were cheap enough, that if they turn out not to be genuine i wont be bothered, fit them and get some from clark when I can afford to/get a chance to get over to him and have those ready for when these get fcked again!

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Right, I'll actually add some stuff to this now
The shagged 1.25 - Drove about 80 miles like this Before it finally snapped a rod at the top of the hill on my road!
Engine out - the obligatory, standing in the empty space photo...
To which I had a reply on my forum of
And all in, with working clutch
Cleaned the bay abit...
Before; (cleaning stuff on it at the time, hence the wet-look!)
and after the clean
Done most of the easy to get to places, few bits of ground in dirt here and there are left, but its a lot cleaner than it was!!
Had a week off work but spent most of it indoors or collecting sarah from college or something like that.
First job was to remove the old club stickers from the car and fit the new ones that I got from simmo at the Birmingham meet.
New ones going on;
Second job was finally get round to upgrading the power cable for the amps, equalizer and PC in the boot of the car. It was an 10 gauge cable (suitable for 300 watts) has been replaced with the meaty 4 gauge cable (suitable for a lot more!!)
New cable to go in;
Old and new side by side;
Battery end;
In the boot (forgot to take a pic with false floor up, but its the big red one )
And everything back in place
And why you should use the correct cable...
The fuse, (40 amp)
The fuseholder (note; not a burnt cable, blue paint from my old car...)
Thursday the postman came. The order from rude racing arrived, along with an extra something from ebay...
First up was to change the horn, this is a STEBEL NAUTILLUS - 140db of legal air horn!!
Side by side comparison, old is the black...
and fitted;
Next was to fit the K&N induction cone...
I didn't get round to doing the brake lines yet, but I'll update when I do
Way back (before FiTP iirc - I remember failed attempt there to takes Tweek's, but I couldn't remove it!!) I broke my bonnet stay clip. I found one on ebay for like 99p...
...So I bought, and fitted it.
And a random shot of the engine bay (Its rude not to now!!)
I should be doing the wishbones this weekend, hopefully brake lines too. There are quite a few "wear and tear" issues that need sorting out before much more gets done...
