Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Yesterday I painted up the inlet manifold.
It isn't perfect, but will do the job. As the gaskets are expensive and I wasn't sure what mine is like, I didn't want to take it off, just in case. So I painted as much of it as I could in situe.
If you don't look too closely at it, its ok
I took off the cover, and took a wire brush to it (top half has been done...)
and then it got painted...
With the cover refitted;
As you can maybe see in this pic, I haven't done the lot!!
Also a little paint droppped onto the ISCV! lol

I think the red/black contrast is what he was after Jony. Red/silver would look naff.

Why not, it looks good. Danny has the ideajonyb4 :ugh, why would you paint it black?
them silver inlet pipes are one fo the 1.7's trademarks
Although I do hope after a few heat cycles it takes just a little of the gloss off it.

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
I had the week off work, and dedicated today to my car (Sunny weather!)
First thing on the adgenda, was to source vibration under breaking (from rear). I haven't done that, I couldn't find anything wrong. Will need to get the brake balance checked :?
Next, was a trip to Halfords to get some:
So that I could clean my ISCV and MAF as I had hesistation under low revs and slightly poor cold idle.
Before (MAF)
After (MAF)
Next was to move onto the spot lights in the front bumper. They hadn't been re-wired since the engine conversion, and a good job too. A stone hit one of them and cracked the lense, so it was filled with water!
The back had rusted abit too!
So i just removed them both.
Offside now looks like this!
With the nearside hole becoming the new resting place for the CAF.
I had issues with the idling on the car after doing the cleaning! It originally idled fine, but when I drove it, it was hunting at 1.5 - 2K. Then got worse and was idling at 3K.
After I removed the IGN fuse for about 30 seconds, to reset the ECU (Need to clarify I got the right fuse!!) I got the idle back down, not perfect, but that should just be the ECU relearning the values. Heres a video of the idle, car sounds lovely in it!!

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
The idle has cleared and is normal now.
The paintwork is a result of the splitter being ripped off on a speed bump, its just bodged back on atm.

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
I need an EQ as the audio is coming from a PC, not a head unit.
The PC itself was built nearly 2 years ago, its not a major spec;
1.6Ghz Atom 230 (Signle core) and 1GB Ram.
But, cause its not being used as a PC, I strip out any of the useless cr@p that I wouldn't use.

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
I've been taking advantage of the nice weather we've had recently and sprayed up my spare mirror cases and base plates! (Yeah, I know, long enough time coming!!)
Heres a few pictures from them, I'll hopefully get round to fitting on friday, when I clean the car for combe
^Started to flat them down, using primer and filler primer and loads and loads of wet sanding.
^Base plates with 2 coats of panther black on them. They had a total of 2 coats and 2 lacquer in the end.
^Mirror cases, 2 coats of rad red. (slight run in second picture) They had a total of 4 coats in the end. No Lacquer.
^Flatted back base plates.
^And partially polished back up
They are being left for the remainder of this week to fully harden, so hopefully this time they wont react so much. I'll assemble them onto the frames that are currently on the car, as one of the ones from these is brokeded anyways.
And today This arrived in the post (reason for selling both my other spoilers!)
Brand new, never used. The small bag of parts was sealed still!!
But wait, it comes with a box too!
... Inside the box!
Thats right! This is a brand new, never ever used, still sealed! Ford RS Spoiler!
The stamps:
It even turned up in the original Ford Box!!
Will spray this up myself for now and hopefully have it on in time for FiTP. If the finish turns out crap, I will get it done properly (but going by my new mirrors and my side skirts, I seem to have found the way to get a decent enough finish )
