Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Slightly sizeable update this time
Friday, she got washed and I swapped the mirrors over. For those that don't know/remember, this is what they used to look like;
So I swapped the cases over and now have this;
For whatever reason, I only took pics from one side! :?
Next up was saturday, left at 5:15 for combe!
It passed its sound check;
I went out on track. Though I don't have any photos of this yet.
She behaved brilliantly! I couldn't have asked for more from her for my first track session!
I then bought a Combe sticker, however I epically f**cked up fitting it!
So, I bought another on ebay, which turned up today.
Much better. Although its a little smaller, but no big issue!
Throughout the week and bit of friday, I have been prepping the spoiler, its had the primer it needs now (Will give it a final check over later today to see if it needs more)
So its just with colour and lacquer next!
Pictures of the progress (Red was applied as a test and base guide coat )

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
That was removed a long time ago.
Along with your poor attempt at soldering a boot popper solenoid. Which you may be interested to know, I just pulled apart, didn't need to remove the 'solder'

Sorry Rob, we were a bit late getting to the track to watch your session. I did get a couple of pic's though to prove you were there!

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Bit of an overdue update here really....
Haven't touched the spoiler. Still annoyed about that.
So I took all the audio gear out my boot, Haven't used it for so long and it's taking up space and adding weight.
I've started selling that off, but only sold one thing so far :blub:
I bought myself a toy. This is a Scangauge II unit. For seeing live data through OBDII. I decided to mount it in the ash tray. Its removable, should I ever need access to the cigar lighter socket. (The AVG consumption shown is for that journey to work, and is MPL rather than MPG so don't worry! 8MPL = ~38MPG)
You can chose the colour of the backlight, so obviously, I set it to red.
I then moved back to the boot...
The eDead sound deadening that I fitted a few years ago had the sticky bit sticking through in places so it had to come out. This is the only time I'm glad that I chose the eDead over Dynamat.
Once I removed that, I got abit carried away...
I started stripping the Ford sound deadening out too!
Stuff is an absolute PITA to remove, there are various techniques and no-one agrees on whats best. I tried freezing it (the american, do it in 5 minutes way) but the spray I have just doesn't go cold enough, so untill I can be bothered to get my heat gun out, I'm just scraping it off with a scraper...
Have decided the interior will be satin black when it all gets stripped, so started spraying the boot (there was bare metal and I have a couple of leaks, so its more just for protection)
Next up was a visit to the scrappies. I got myself a standard heater control panel, so that when in and the screen panel came out!
Then yesterday, a new toy turned up.
Omex Item Number 1 - Sequential Shift Light!
Shift point is set at 6.3K with each LED lighting up at 600rpm Intervals.
Meaning it lights up like this....
1st light: 4,500 rpm
2nd light: 5,100 rpm
3rd light: 5,700 rpm
final light: 6,300 rpm

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Went to the Sh*tBoxRacing/Power Engineering rolling road day, Part two yesterday.
I was happy with what it made:
And because I haven't deleted JonyB4 off of facebook, this was his original comment...
He then decided to take off the last part!

Jonathan wrote "matching torque/power is the part i like, not bad since they have 112lbs standard, you wont see much more power from it though"

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Always a bit of a relief when an engine makes standard power, especially on a dd rolling road.
Wtf does Jony know about how much power you could make.

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
Take one hole from removing stereo....
Take one A5 sheet of wet lay Carbon Fibre....
Take a couple of measurements....
Take a saw...
You get this....
Comes with sexy reflections too....
Take an offcut of said carbon fibre...
Take a couple more measurements...
You get these, very sexy Carbon Fibre mounting brakets.
Which go here....
Take two small cross head screws (need to be replaced with black ones)....
You get this...
It will be used to hold a couple of switches and the omex boxes will be mounted at the bottom of the panel to hide the gap between it and the heater control panel!

Re: TreColl's Mk4!
WOOP!!
Still need to try and get the other switches in there too...
I've temporarily put the switch here...
But after some clever advice from the Boy's at Power Engineering I'm gonna screw the switch off and fit it against my clutch switch. This way I also get full throttle gear changes!!
However, that won't be till I've got it set where I want it, for now its at 3krpm (Hard Cut) though this seems a little low, so I'm gonna boost it up to 3.5 and see how much slip I get from the tyres/clutch and adjust from there (plus thats where the VCT starts, so will get some attempts at the pop da bang bangs)
I can press the switch with my hand still on the gearstick

Re: TreColl's Mk4! - The Final Update!?!
I went back to Castle Combe in September for the Summer Action Day.
Heres the photos I've gathered so far...
Was amazing. I felt faster. Although in the second session I got held up massively by a dude in a Mercedes SL500. It was stupidly slow through the corners, but I couldn't pass on the straights. Eventually I had to force my way past, as you'll see below.
I borrowed my works HD video camera and stuck it to my front screen. I also had a second camera setup for the rear. I couldn't be bothered to turn it on in the morning, and unfortunately it moved going over avon rise for the first time in my second session...
Here are the resulting videos.
The morning;
The afternoon;
As the title suggests, this is probably my final update. Time has come for me to move on, I've been thinking about this for a long time. The main problem I have is, I do 1,000 miles+ a month and most of those are on motorways! Sitting at 3,700 rpm at 70mph is not only deafening, but uses a hell of a lot of petrol which isn't exactly cheap in the first place!
The car is for sale between now and february, I'm asking for a grand, which I think is very reasonable considering how much has been spent on it. If it hasn't sold by february I will start breaking it
So far it is only advertised on forums, but will eventually go on eBay before it starts getting broken.
