fiestasiphil :its come up so nice though dude, i used a similar paint on my white fiestas heat sheild it was fine until i pressure washed the engine bay and caught it slightly, and the paint came straight off, so i recommmend cleaning your cars engine bay first before you put all these nicely painted parts on  im really considering doing the maf on my si now ive seen how nice yours has come up :) , and thinking about doing the fan motor :)

Dont worry its going to get a VERY good clean :) Everything shall be cleaned and painted, apart from the block, head, gearbox, i think those are the only bits not getting pained, but they will get a good clean. Deffo do your maf on yours! You can have it done in 45mins max including removal and refitting if you wanted. I think it just makes the car look SO much nicer, I was fed up of looking at is going hmmmmm i wish it was clean and new looking. So now i pulled my finger out and its getting done! Fan motor sounds good to, im going to do mine monday or tuesday I think :)

Tweek :This car could do with an Ashley 4-branch

Yes I know it could dammit :) Don't you think if I had the money I would give it to you? :D Just keep it in your garage for a while, it wont get in the way then ;)

As I've said, the engine clean up looks great. Time to get my ar*e in gear and do it myself... That clean up with the expansion tank sounds good, I'm gunna give that a go aswell, although it's not as bad as yours. Let us know how you get on! :D

not sure the 1.6 would benefit from a four branch much, on the other hand, it fits all zetecs so its a nice investment for when this has a 2.0 or 1.8 :Q

hammerite on the cam cover tends to go all soft and actually moves around then you touch it ive found

Indeed you do James! :D The expansion tank didnt come out too well from my first go, bit upsetting, still alot of black crap in there, but im going to give it another go tomorrow and see if i can get any better results!

Im sure it would benefit nicely ;) and yeah it will be a good investment for the time when its 2.0. The thing is with painting Jony, is you dont touch it when its wet... simple lol. Ive never had problems with hammerite, used it on everything - engine blocks, rocker covers... you name it, its been used. So you must be doing something wrong

It does work, It got ALOT of crap out and its better than what it was, its just the black thats in there isnt coming out :( and its still slighlty discoloured, but it will never be perfect unless its new lol.

Might try some different chemicals in with the mix tomorrow to see what results i can get, if nothing works then i might just get some white vinegar and fill it up with that and leave it over night. Its good enough to get rust of metal so must be good enough to clean a header tank lol. We shall see though!! :)

i put it on too thick danny, and it went like a skin lol, then when it got hot if you push the paint it would move, kinda like gravy skin effect

i think i still have a spare header tnak from my last si thats in good clean condition if your interested?

Little update on the painting of bits. Havent done much if im honest, mainly the throttle body, painted some heads of bolts to give them a newer look than rusty old brown. This is only temp until stainless bolts are sourced later on.

Header tank is semi-cleaned. Going to re-do it later on tonight.

Also done the throttle cable bracket, throttle cable clip and one of the engine hooks.... thats about it!

think id rather sand blast most of these parts in this update, id never paint a bolt as it will just get damaged under screwing on

looking good thou :)

Yeah I know :( its off to the body shop in a couple of weeks to get it properly sorted out :) My very quick 10min job is still holding though lol. I'd rather know its done profesionally though, I dont feel right about welding thin metal, im used to welding 1 inch square tubes and thick/thicker metal.

Small update today, while the sun was out I took a couple of hours to clean the inlet, prep it and paint it. It came out quite nice! Just need to do a few more bits before I can start putting all the other bits on.

Ive decided that im going to either paint the head or give it one hell of a clean, good and proper, its a MESS from my leaky coolant pipe, plus its dirty anyway!

Few pics :) I didnt get any of the prep work, but it got a good clean down with degreaser and a toothbruth! lol. Then prepped it for paint, and this was the last of the layers of paint was going on.

Bit of originalness :)

The other parts arent on yet as you can see, dont want to ruin them while I do the other bits :)

nice mate.

get aome alloy paint for the head, its like water and contains alloy,. its what ive painted a lot of my stuff with and its bloody good stuff!

i painted my cvh head with it, the zetec sump (for xr2) and the zetec head, the stuff i had was a different make and a lot older as my dad had it for years, but this is the sort of stuff

its good stuff mate.
you know how manky the thermosat housing can get on a cvh, wire brush it, and paint with that, looks like new, and the paint is so thin its like water and is easy to put on and dont run.
paint it over welds too, ive had to weld holes in exhaust boxes before and have used that paint, smells a tad when its burning, but it dont burn off and lasts, i welded another hole on the same exhaust box a year later and paint was still on the back box

White wheels? What white wheels? Mine are grey... They are disgustingly dirty, I swear its a daily job to keep them clean. The joys of having white wheels eh!? lol.

Yeah I used high temp paint, been using it on all the other parts too - rocker cover, throttle body, exhauat manifold heat sheild and what ever else ive painted (pics up the page I think)

And Jay, that stuff sounds pretty good! I'll have to invest in some :Q

I'll be completely honest, ive not touched it lol. I keep meaning to, but I never get round to it. I'll do it tonight though, infact, i'll go start on it now along with the other bits that need doing :aviator:

Should hopefully have some more pictures towards the weekend, I had an extra long lay in today... until about 3pm  So that was a whole day of good weather wasted which im not happy about, but hopefully tomorrow will be nice so I can crack on with loads of other bits and bobs! :D

I keep finding more and more bits to paint, its never ending, ive got a massive list at the moment lol. Still gotta crack on with the underneith and all the servicing side of it yet! Im slacking so much :(
