jonyb4 :not at all, the Si is a very good medium, cracking first car for young drivers and a perfect base for a 2.0 conversion, not to mention very good looking
ok then

Re: TTF Si 2.0 - FRST Bonnet trial fitted... 05/02/12
Yeah it really does. Its boring and has no character to it.
Find something in this picture which you think that gives it real character and attraction. I cant find anything (ignoring the fact its a 5 door).
I've never said my car was far from standard looking, or in fact that it looks good. All I said was standard Si's out the factory look like s**t, which they do. Compare the above picture to a tastefully modified Si... they look different. Even as soon as you lower it, you change the look of the car, giving it some character and make it look better... They do honestly look rather boring from the factory. You know I'm right and that it makes sense.
If you want to argue the point that my car isn't far from standard looking, go ahead because I'm not going to argue with you about it lol. I could say that your car looks standard apart from the fact you've slapped some skirts and arches on it.
At the end of the day, all I'm saying is 100% standard - looks s**t. Modified - looks better

Re: TTF Si 2.0 - Small update, RR result and other shiz 20/02/12
Small update on the fiesta.
I've not really done mega loads recently, just sorting out a few little bits and bobs...
Firstly the paint on the power steering coolant pipe was rubbing off, so I decided to sand it back and give it a polished/chrome look. It came out rather well!
Then while I was there I sorted out the badge on the bonnet so its in the middle (pic below later)
The other day I decided to fit my new splitter because my old one got ripped off some time ago.
I debated about putting the split in the middle, but there would be no reinforcement there to keep it from flapping, so its been put off centre like it originally was and secured better than last time too lol
Then on saturday I went along with a few of the guys to the rolling road day at Devil Developments, was a good laugh, some awesome cars there.
I whacked the fiesta on the rollers - picture from Terry here:
It made a lame 122.2bhp. The main reason as to why it made that figure is due to the K&N banana pipe is so soft and its sucking itself shut, restricting the power.
I have noticed it driving around a few times, a few people on forums have also said to ditch it because it does that, and the guys at Devil Development said exactly the same thing to me when they asked what intake setup it was on after telling me too, that its crap and sucks itself shut.
SO! The next day that got taken off and I raided the garage for bits and bobs to replace the K&N pipe with. I have decided the final design will not be like below, instead, a silicone 90 degree bend off the throttle body, then some metal piping, then a 45 degree bend off that to the MAF and air filter which will sit somewhere over the gearbox... its been done before so I know it works.
As I said, I raided the garage, found an old escort gti intake pipe, some cold air feed flexi pipe and made a temporary setup - mainly for testing purposes.
I've been running the setup for a couple of days now, no problems so far even though its a complete bodge, and so far the results are that it pulls harder and revs much more freely throughout the rev range. So all is good
Heres a pic
Also the exhaust is/was blowing and the filter hasn't been cleaned for 2 years, which may not help.
As stated above, another thing which was a problem was the exhaust, the backbox in fact. It basically had a massive hole in it and was blowing. Where the hanging bracket is, it had peeled away basically. Probably due to stress on the exhaust system being twisted at some point.
So today that got sorted out. I got it welded up, then put fire resistant silicone sealant on the welds just to make sure it was all air tight again, then gave it a clean and fitted it.
Sadly no pics of the hole, sealant or cleaning process, just the after pics of the weld.
Thennnnnnnnnnnnn after all that, I took it for a drive, seems all good.
Quick vid of 0-60 after all the 'fixes'. Its about 7 seconds. I'll let you be the judge of what time it is exactly. It hits the limiter at 62mph.
I think thats it for this update.
Hopefully once all the intake setup is sorted and what not, i'll whack it back on the rollers and see what difference it makes. Hopefully it'll be somewhere near the 130bhp mark, if it is, i'll be happy!

could you not use an escort RST charge pipe to make an induction pipe?

That was an idea at first, but it has been proven they restrict power too, because they are quite small internally. They are designed for forced induction, which is why they work well on ERST's. Same applies to the FRST pipe.

liek i said on FSI the ERST charge pipe will suit your standard set up fine i reckon, when you start getting a better exhaust etc it will struggle imo
but for now it would be fine

I know the rusty coolant pipe I once had ruined my expansion tank. I'll get another one of each at some point soon.
Its funny because I was actually looking at both of them this morning thinking about getting new ones. The expansion tank more than anything because its skank!

ERST and FRST charge pipes always look pikey/bodged on Zetecs.

Cheers Jay - a few people on here said to me about that happening too, and I had noticed it on the road a few times. So thats been binned now lol.
I won't be going down that route guys don't worry.
The above picture of of the chromed engine bay with the blue silicone hoses is what the finished version will be something like. Although I dont think I will be using blue hoses, they will be black for less in your face look.
And also it may not look exactly like that yet, I am toying with a few different designs

If i can remember rightly.
Trust stainless four branch,
Powerflow de-cat,
Mongoose system,
2.0l MAF and TB,
Collins powerchip,
Green airfilter with cold air feed
All i really remeber is it went like a baxtered and redlined at 8,500 rpm

I didn't have a pop at you, I just said I didn't want it lol.
Your ban isn't purely because of you going off on one just this once, there are many other reasons too. But lets not clog up my thread once again with loads of crap
