Luckily, I have sourced a HO inlet with rs1800 TB, 2 litre maf and 2 litre ecu too, so that should be here in the new year :) So all being well, should run rather smoothly!

Sup guys, small update on the engine.

Over the last few days I've decided to crack on with the engine, making it look fresh and new ready for the swap and renewing some bits on it.

So before it got stripped down, it looked like this if you cant remember: ttf-si-small-update-engine-painted-new-bits-11-01-12-vt182547-210/#p1885585

There are still a few bits to come; HO/RS1800 inlet, 2.0 throttle body, 2.0 maf and 2.0 ecu. These are being sent out next week thanks to Funkynut on FSI. Once they are here, I will clean them up and spray them silver. Bits to be sprayed are; inlet, throttle body, injector rail, maf, rocker cover and a few other bits. Going to do it as one bulk lot to make the most of the spray cans.

The other day I got this lot:

Image

- CVH Bosch oil filter
- Circoli water pump
- Pagid ST150 brake pads
- Continental contitech cambelt kit
- Continental contitech drive belt
- Valeo clutch kit

Today I picked up a few gaskets and spark plugs.

Then cracked on.

I will update this again when the other bits turn up and are painted :)

tenny tinny oil filter :)
the 1.6/1.8 one is double that size :o

is there a drawback to that? seems like it would need replacing twice as often, even though its used plenty by many people

anyway good job all looking nice and fresh, an extra 40bhp coming soon :D

No real drawbacks as such, the main advantage of using the CVH filter is that you dont need to change the oil pump to the fiesta one, the fiesta one is shorter but the filter is longer. It can be left on and replaced at normal service intervals as far as I'm aware. I always change the oil often anyway, so it will make no real difference to me :)

Yeah more than likely Jay lol. I don't mind if it burns off though if I'm honest, I just wanted it to look nice while it was all out. If I didn't do it then I would have been annoyed with myself knowing it's not done

Just a small update on the car/engine.

Got myself a RS1800/HO inlet manifold and throttle body, 2.0 maf and 2.0 DEWY ecu from a member on fsi which is awesome, those was the last bits I needed too.

So as you can imagine, I stripped them bits down, cleaned them up and sprayed them along with a spare rocker cover I had too.

I also bought a few new gaskets and a new splitter for the car because mine got ripped off being so damn close to the floor

Aaaaaaaaaaaand also, I got this of ebay for £5  I needed a workbench in the garage, so what better than a computer desk! does the job nicely, can work on parts in comfort now

love the garage setup danny.

perhaps see if you can get the split of the splitter in the center of the car this time. way i did it was strongest and easiest at the time as it kept the bit that sloted into the other side as you know

With the cvh oil filter you may still have to jack the engine up when you want to change the oil filter. The renault 5 filter comes off with no trouble

Nah :( should be tomorrow though!

Got the old engine out today, started changing the bits over, had a visit from my mum and faffed around a little bit too. The new engine didn't go back in today though, I knew realistically on my own it was a 2 day job anyway.

So tomorrows job is to finish building up the new engine - literally just a few hoses to connect, the inlet manifold and thats it, gearbox and clutch are already on... then give the engine bay a quick once over and make it clean, then put the new engine in along with the new ECU and all should be good. Hopefully it will be done by tomorrow afternoon :) I will upload pics and maybe a vid tomorrow :)

Cheers for the heads up! I'll look into a renault 5 filter if this one gives me any hassle!

Yes people that's something to be aware of when swapping between sealed filters. Look inside the end of a new one and you'll see why.

Hmm maybe I will stay away from that then! I dont mind jacking up the engine a little bit to change the filter if it needs doing anyway, just means it will take an extra 10mins on top of the normal time to do it :)

So, the new engine is in, running, and perfect.

Totally fudgekin worth it!!!

Its still running the Si gearbox, but its all good. Will eventually get an escort one with an LSD I think though lol. Or just hunt for an LSD and put it in my spare escort gti box.

I'll basically let the pictures do the talking!

How it all started...

Image

Old engine out

Image

Lifting the car up to get the old engine out

Image

Image

End of day one I basically stipped the old engine down a fair bit then transfered all the bits onto the 2 litre engine.

Day 2 started as follows.

Image

Image

Image

Image

New engine built up, new clutch on there too, but didnt get a picture.

Image

Image

Going in, covered up of course lol

Image

A while later, new rocker cover on ect ect, all plumed in, wired up. DONE!

Image

FILTHY car on the floor.

Random one of me at the end of the day

Was it all worth it???
