I like the splitter, although id be interested to see either a clio or laguna splitter without the holes fitted, but the golf one looks wicked

Whats the bargain you have picked up?

Re: TTF - Si *Mirrors 26/8/09*

Postby Minstral on Wed Aug 26, 2009 7:03 pm

as ive said before i tryed to get these done for Ford Fair, the bloke did do them but finish wasnt great so i made him do them again. and turned out great this time.

ive gone for gloss black base plates just to try and break it up a bit.
Image
not the best pic
the black is really sutble and works really well with the green.

just a pic with them and and looking clean for a change
Image

also needed 2 new tyres for it to go through the MOT. wanted something that will grip more so i can get the best out of my coilovers.
So after much deliberation went for some Yokohama S-Drives.
Image
on the way home with the slightly more tread on the wheels go loads of rubbage round the corners, so going tighten coilovers to the max. and after chatting with blade im probably going to put the new ones on the back then when the old tyres get low get some stretch on the front so i dont have any rubbage at all

mine are the unpainted versions so i wonder if they would still cost the same to do?
may have to have a look into it
whereabouts in the bay are they?

Right all tyres are swapped over now, with the yoko's on the front so handle's immense now. Main reasons for doing were that over every single bump was hitting the arch purely because i had to space them out over the brakes. I would love to keep them but needs must, and i want to be able to make the most out of my car not rubbing on every single bend.

So ive bought some RS 7 spokes diamond cuts in 15". there not in the greatest condition but i got them cheap and know after a refurb they wil be gleaming. think they have had laquer corrosion and one of the last owners decided to paint them so im stripping the paint to try and get back the shine so that its one job done for when they are refurbed.

this was how i was rolling around for about 3 weeks whilst the tyres were being swapped by a mate
Image
two 15" on the front to clear brakes and some spare 13" pepperpots on the rear, looked awesome. that pic is half jacked up at the back so looks high.
these pics are taken from mine and henry's day out on sunday. first pics with all the wheels on. i do have the centre caps just got to sort them out first.

eagle eyed amongst you will notice there is no splitter on at the moment. was purely because i was getting so annoyed with the splitter scrapping and the wheels hitting had to get rid of one lot of noises

refurb will be on the cards in the next few months
more pics to follow from henry

Gotta admit I preferred the old wheels however new ones do look good - are you missing center caps?

Sorry about Sunday, I had no confirmation from anyone then my diary was filled with other things on the assumption nobody was around. Maybe next time :)

Smo i do love em but just couldnt use them at the height im at. would have to make it higher to keep them, a lot higher and that's just no goning to happen. plus when these are sorted they will look good.

thanks dave will look tones better when they are refurbed :Q

The old wheels were perhaps the greatest wheels for a mk3 ive ever seen, but the rs7's will look good if you do them in the colour we discussed on sunday. Besides, you can lower it soooooo much more on these wheels, proper scrapage :aviator:

Scrappage is not fun...

I put 17s on the golf last weekend, and nearly destroyed the sill over a speed bump

The old wheels looked much better as i think the sharp edges of the new wheels don't really go with the rounded si bumpers. I think the compromise between a little higher and different wheels was a no brainer...

I'm sure you will make it look good somehow though! :)

at the moment you cant tell what it will look like as the wheels arent it the best of condition. only in the dark is when you can actually see the edges.
to go higher on those wheels steve i would have to go about another 20mm higher which i dont want to do plus then you have to account for lean which affected me big time as i just couldnt get the full usage out of the coilovers.
its like a completely different car now though no bangs and can go however quick i want into a corner and it just sticks :Q

oo how you gonna go about fitting the second arb? to the back i presume?, mine aint got one and ive been thinking about fitting one, but dunno if its easier to just buy a si rear beam, but then the suspension struts might not fit :S
