Tuning 2ltr zetec, am i right?

Postby Wude Si 16v on Fri Jan 03, 2003 7:48 pm

My car is currently undergoing a 2ltr zetec conversion. While i am slowing gathering some turbo parts for seroius power i thought i would tweak the 2ltr a touch. At the moment it is having its head ported 'n' polished, blue injectors, erst lsd box and a new manifold to fit the 2ltr correctly.

Does this seem the best route so far, excluding a chip, and what sort of power do you think it will be kicking out?

One more question, does a 1.6 si pipercross fit the 2ltr and work ok?

many thanks, Adam.

u won`t gain much from porting etc unless u can map the car proper, ie aftermarket ecu, polishing does feck all apart from look good and can lose u bhp, blue injectors????? hope u aint just gonna whack em in, cos fueling will be out unless u can map them to suit the engine, spk to jay(xfactor) as we have just produced 4 branch manifold and decat pipe to suit zetecs in fiestas, not sure about details though, pm him. escort turbo lsd box aint worth it imo, only decent lsd is quaife atb, otherwise i always just recommend box without lsd, and theirs less to go wrong..

Change the conrod bolts for a set of ARP race items, or she'll blow up when you rev it repeatedly over 7000 rpm!

My dad's runnin a 2 litre Zetec in his Caterham, hillclimbs and sprints it v successfully, great motor, NO probs whatsoever! Normal induction, 230bhp, redline 9,200rpm  If you want a really good job doing, see Paul Dunnell, he does the sh!t with Zetecs. Don't know how much he charges, but he truly is the man!

lol well that's a 2i, this is a hill-climbing Caterham, small difference! lol The engine alone was about £10k, yours prob cost about £250 to build, so it's all in perspective you fool :P

grahamb - wouldn't most engines blow if you kept taking them to 7000, whats the price tag on the ARP items?

cheers, Adam.
