this should be made a sticky!

ill try and put this to rest once and for all

a 1.1 is s**t for trying to squeeze more hp out of as there just isnt anything more that can really be done to it aside from major expense

a 1.3 is better but is still limited by the poxy injection and ohv system

a 1.6 has the potenial for so much more but typically needs turboing to get adequate gains

a 2.0 is really the only way to go for power on the cheap but insurance is normally sky high especiall if you declare mods (which you better)

short and concise doesnt expand to much it shouldnt be touched again
mods sticky this

hi,
Does anyone know how much bhp difference there is between a 1.1 hcs and 1.3 hcs, as im about to change the 1.1 for the 1.3, is there any advice for tuning the 1.3 for better power?

Hi.

There probably wont be all that much difference, although obviously there will be some, ive got a 1.1 & if i was going to change the engine id go for at least a 1.4i, preferably a 1.6i, mine is a carb.

What about using Redex or similar engine treatment?

I am considering using this once my car is on the road, must be worth something even it's merely smoother running.

my brother has done all of the redex treatment it seemed like a lot of cost for very little return it cleaned his injectors n stuff but that made his throttle a little bit more responsive for about a week and then his cfi dumped its guts dont know if it was because of the redex or maybe it was just that the dirt was the only thing holding it together
