Be cheaper to do an RS1800 transplant, and probably easier as essentially it's the same engine.

Another idea would be a low pressure turbo but they are ££££££££££££££££££££

Most effecient for least £ will be a de-cat pipe, then I'd go for a cam, then filter.
May want to get exhaust first though for posing factor  :Q

Prices(ish):
de-cat - £70
cam - £300
zorst - £250 (stainless)
filter(panel) - £35

Ive got the same query mate, Does any one no if you can get an Si to have the same performance as an Xr2i? the zetec engines i would of thought would have better tuning potential the only difference I know is of the cat on the back of the Si, surely by taking that off you could get the Bhp to 110 straight away?

I think I'm right in saying that the Si engine was built with economy in mind,as oppose to performance.
Bearing in mind the Si (1.6 16valve) only produces 90 bhp (or is that 90 PS) I think that a 20 bhp increase for just fitting a de-cat pipe is a touch ambitious
Isn't the cat at the front anyway?

Yep it's 90ps. 89bhp I think that is.

The 1.6 has smaller valves than the 1.8 and 2L and there isn't a lot you can do to get good power out of them without spending big money.

There was an Si in Perf Ford a while back running 166bhp, (throttle bodies) this cost the guy nearly £4000 and included a complete engine swap to a 1.8!

Nitrous is the cheapest way to (temporary) big power, not that expensive but your insurance co might not take a shine to it!

as the guys say swap to a 1.8.

Thanks 4 the plug rob

Ive got a 2l with magnex, k+n and ran it with the cat removed fora bit - I can honestly say the zetecs run far better with the airbox, and the exhaust made sod all difference.

Jurys out on the cat removal - made little difference - the main restriction on the zetec is the inlet manifold and ford fuel map in rom.
